Hello all, I am using a friends V2 to reprogram my duramax with 5 tunes I recieved from a well known tuner. My question is, is there a simple way to copy the stock tune from my truck with the V2? I have read through several how to's but, its like spanish to me so I am looking for a dumbed down version that I cant screw up and I really dont want to mess up anything that he has saved on the V2 in the process. I know I will need a 2gb standard sd card and will have to use my PC not my mac to make it easier. Anyway if some one can point me in the direction of simple step by step to pull and save my tune to the sd and my laptop I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Mike.

I honestly amnot sure hot the tunes I bought are written. I got them through synthetic motorsports and the tuner is Kory Willis from LAtuning. They are emeailing me the five tunes to put onto the V2 then the truck. I googledand found this pdf https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:0zhIhntpDE4J:forum.efilive.com/attachment.php?attachmentid%3D12022%26d%3D13171620 94+How+to+flash+ECM/PCM+using+handheld+V2+(Black+Box+Flashing-+BBF)+pdf&hl=en&gl=us&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEESh8HJ2yP4XXmRdbWEyeXCTIi5vGvlPoT-3J0xbpYPym-VEfK3_LXHM-aI1xJp-9DaZkXD_JvAG01X2F0A5dplDjK26NEZZ6BchGmZXsLAy4Rvz7d rzaF-PEKESZpTkqOQV1zaPU&sig=AHIEtbQQTZzvkqgyXnDe4a9REjXMm2YQrA I just want to save the stock tune incase I ever need it again before writing over it. If the directions on the pdf will work i can do that with no problem I just want to make sure I am not going to screw anything up for my buddy since its his V2. He is from FL and I am in AK so I didnt know if the V2 is like an Ipod where everytimeyou plug it into a new computer it tries to reset all the data. Thanks for the reply and please let meknow if I am on the right track. By the way thats a bada$$ rig you have in your sig. Mike.

I didnt send them a tune and I bought a liscense from them when I ordered since the two on the V2 have already been used. Kory said there will be a flash drive with my switch that has some tutorials but i am just trying to do some pregame warm up so the install goes smoothly. I have heard great things about his tunesand to be honest I cant believe I didnt go with Robs again like I did on my LB7. Just figured I would try something different for my LMM and save a couple bucks.

Yes I have a Hp that I am going to use. I wanted to use my macbook pro but it seemed like a real PITA so I pulled this thing out of the closet. Anyway it has vista and I already installed efi ver 7.5 and 8.

I am tryingto go between that pdf and this thread http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=401770 but I dont know what info I need since its not my V2. I just want to pull my tune onto an sd card and save to my laptop. I dont want to update the firmware or pull his sd card out and end up loosing all his data. That would be a real dick move on my part.

so he probly is sending you a flash drive with a script and you will have to convert you stock tune to a DSP tune which is easy. and then you choose to run that script aftter you have saved your DSP tune that you converted. and you run the script over the DSP tune save it and do a FULL flash (which is the far right Outlined red arrow) and that should do it.

I am pretty sure he is going to email me the tunes. He said the flash drive would be the tutorials but I could be wrong. I am going between the PDF and this thread http://www.dieselplace.com/forum/showthread.php?t=401770 I just dont know what parts are going to apply to me. I just dont want to update the firmware or pull his sd card to put mine in and end up loosing all his data. That would def be a dick move.

So for some reason my replies were not going through. I am going between the pdf and a sticky from diesel place and dont know what sections apply to me. I dont want to update the firmware or pull his sd card and loose all my buddies data. As far as I know he is emailing me the tunes and mailing the flash drive with the tutorials. I could be wrong though. So am I just overthinking all this and its easier then it seems? My stock tune will not be one of my 5. I will have to pull and save my stock tune then write over it with the 5 hes sending. Thanks again for your time man.

Thanks Kory, I received them the other day but am waiting on the exhaust and switch to get here before giving it a go. Like I said I think I was just reading to far into it and after watching you and some others how-to videos, I think I should be able to figure it out. I do have two other questions that I was wondering; When I ordered my tunes I did like most others and went by HP. Do you know what kind of TQ I would be putting out on your 80, 100 or 120 HP tunes? I would like to tell anyone who asks a realistic number. My other question is when I ordered I went with an LB7 rumble at idle on all positions because Im not a fan of hiss. Would there have been another option through EFI live tuning thats safe but gives a lot of turbo noise? (like a power stroke) I know its all dependent on the vane positions, but figured it wouldn't hurt to ask the expert. Thanks again for the tunes and the great service, I cant wait to get it installed and roll in on the throttle. Mike.
