I already read the sticky.
This is my very first encounter with an E38 ECM. I have a coworker (Tom) that wants to try out the "B8820 Torque Model" alteration, but doesn't want to alter his stock E38. We purchased a used E38, Service # 12633238. I took a read of Toms ECM to use for a full flash and of the used E38 for its O/S number. According to the E38 Service Number/Operating System tutorial it has/had a compatible Operating System that could be Full Flashed to Toms trucks Operating System. I did the full flash---The software alerted me to an Operating System mismatch and asked if I wanted to proceed---I did. The reflash worked fine. However after reading out the freshly flashed ECM, I noticed the VIN is all 0000000000000.
I also noticed that when I go to the tune and look at the Calibration tab, it says the truck is a 5.3L V8---Which it is. When I go to the VIN tab, it says it is a 3.6L V6---Which it isn't. I have tried to load Toms VIN into the used E38 according to the help in the E38 VIN sticky. When I type in the new VIN and try to apply it I get an out of range message and the VIN shows a Question Mark at the rear of the VIN number. Here are a couple of screen shots of what is happening. The VIN in these screenshots is the one I want in the ECM.
