I have a friend that went and bought a '67 pickup that someone has done a engine/trans swap on. The engine is a 5.0 with the 4L60e trans from a 96 C1500. The truck runs, but he's having problems throwing codes and check engine light. So he calls me for ideas, long story short, the PCM was not retuned to run in a standalone setup like this. I found out that the 96PCM is not supported for tuning, and it was suggested to me to find a 98-00 PCM. I found a 99 PCM at a wrecking yard for next to nothing. So now I'm trying to figure out which pins need to be moved on the 96 harness to match the 99PCM. As you can imagine most of the emmisions systems were removed because of being put in such an early vehicle. It still has the front O2 sensors but nothing else. Once I do the pin changes, I need to find a stock tune for the 5.0 and 4L60e. If someone could direct me to the pinout changes necessary and someone I could purchase a tune from for this application, I would appreciate it. I do have a V2, so I can do the flash here.

Ok, I was able to track down the information on the pins I need to move around to use the newer PCM with the older harness. Now, I just need to find someone with a stock operating system for a 98-00 5.0/4L60e so I can reprogram the PCM for that combo. I'm just looking for a stock tune, that's it.

If you're going to the trouble of rewiring it for a 98-00 PCM just do a LS1B 0411 swap instead. Much better tuning support from EFILive and you can run a COS down the road if you want. Its plug n play, contact Lextech for the wiring diagrams. You will need the correct LS1 connectors and a LS1 PCM plus a few hours and some patience.

I already have the 99 PCM and there's only a few wires to move for this application.

If you already have it, then I can see how it makes sense. If your goal is to just keep it bone stock then the 99 Black Box PCM will be fine. I know a few other people who've tuned their 98-00 Black Box then upgraded to an 0411 LS1 PCM and are frustrated that they have to buy another license to flash it.

Well thankfully this is not my truck. It's my buddy's and he'll be happy with just having a dependable sleeper. I just have to get it programmed to run that engine/ trans and ignore the emissions that are not there.

1999 "blackbox PCM" will have 4 main connectors with 32-34 pins, and is NOT always black.
1999 PCM used for Vette/Camaro/Firebird/L21 Vortec 454 trucks with CNP/ETC will have 2 main connectors with 80 pins each
If the PCM is in fact of 1999 vintage, its not a 411. The 411 was only used from 2001-2002 and in SOME 2003 vehicles.

If it has dual 80 pin connectors, its probably one of these PCM's.
