i have a cc/ sb 07lbz with transgo jr efi with ppe lift pump. i went to full flash a new dsp5 tune on my truck the other day(because i had a single tuneon it) and it went through its process and said flash complete turn key off for 15 sec. evrything acted like it was fine. then went to start and truck wont crank. after checkin battery volt and all fuses i am stumped. i get error message wheni try to reflash it. no communication. i also have a solus pro and it will not connect with the truck either. so i got on the website and did some research. my flashscan is up to date i even uninstalled efi and reinstalled it. i tuned it with the v8 program. is there any way i could have fried the ecm or am i just not doing something right? can someone point me in the right direction. thanks

ok so you did check all of your fuses right to make sure none of them are blown and were any of them blown?

did you actually use a tester or just look at them sorry to harp on this but start with the simple first.

i would for sure check the cig lighter fuse that runs your communication with efi live you wont get a signal if that is bad.

yah i checked all fuses with my test light and voltmeter just to make sure they were getting voltage across them. checked my groung ciruit thinking maybe broken ground somewhere or something. no luck. my ecm has no information on it and i can not put anything back on it.

can you copy and paste what your tune software is saying so i can read it. see what its trying to do.

dieselguy9311

also does it say pcm not detected anywhere on there.

ok so i think what happen was some how the flash never went all the way through for some reason and when this happens the pcm/ecm will not reset and their for you will not be able to communicate with it. what i do when this happens mostly on lly's is pull the pcm fuse and just put it back in. that will reset the pcm. next i use the v2 or what ever you are using to clear the trouble code that more than likely you will have. next you can try to do a normal flash again. i would try the stock file again so that you know for sure it is a good one. if it does not work that way then you can always do a full flash it takes a little longer and is a little more dangerous especially when things are not going right cause you can fire the ecm but i will be your last hope. keep trying i will be here for awhile waiting on you. first time this happened to me i was up till 1.30am trying to fix it so i know how frustrating it can be.

that does not sound like it has anything to do with the truck sounds like the your scanner even if your truck never had a ecm in it at all it should still say this.

Not including the pcm status ok. it should still be trying to verify your efi live license number and everything before it even tries to get your truck info.
I think that your not updated all the way with your bootloader and such. you should make sure you have efi live v8 software and hookup you stuff and do the update it will make sure that all of your devices are updated to the right spot and are all compatible.

Also make sure you pull the pcm fuse and put it back in that is a short cut to pull the battery cables. if you already have everything updated.

January 23rd, 2013, 03:21 PM
i just double checked and everything says it is up to date when i click check for updates. the only thing i can figure is that i need to send it off and have it bench flashed with my stock tune and c if it will take.

dieselguy9311
January 23rd, 2013, 03:27 PM
did you try pulling the pcm fuse and then plugging it back in. that should reset the ecm and give you another shot at reading it.

im at a loss. i have tried everything. i think i am goin to send the ecm off tomorow and c if the guys at atp cant help me out.

thanks for your fast input. this truck has me worn out. at least it is my personal truck and not a customer.

dieselguy9311
January 23rd, 2013, 03:54 PM
ok if you want a couple more things to try out this is what i would try. pretty much all i have left. whenever you are done for the night unhook the battery cables and let it sit for the night. make sure you unhook both sides. this will drain every thing in the truck computer wise. if you want to try something before that. you can do this. it is called an emergency relearn. learned it from another website.

Try to start it, then turn the key back to run. DO NOT TURN IT TO OFF.

Wait 11 minutes (time it).

Try to start again, then turn key back to run. ditto.

On the third cycle, it will ignore the VIN differences in the various modules and will start.

This is how you get a busted truck on the side of the road running when you fry the PCM. You put in a PCM from any other truck of the same type engine, and go through the procedure.

Good luck. im sure you can get it if you keep at it. like i said i have spent over 2 days working on just one truck before and i finally got it just have to narrow it down. after it is all said and done you are happy again and learned all the things that didnt work and some things that did. Good luck i will check back tomorrow and see what you came up with or figured out.

Diesel guy you are using V7 red Max you are using V8 that's why it looks different. Read Max use the seven it will More likely to go through First you need to disconnect batteries then reconnect then full flash with V7

We will do a bench analysis and reflash if needed. If it is salvageable, the cost is minimal.
