I am trying to read /scan a 2006 5.9. When I connect it says ECM not found then connects buy says E67 controller. I know that that is the default but don't know why it is not seeing my ECM. I can hook my handheld scanner to it and it scans it. I can hook my HP Tuners to it and it sees it and checks dtc's just limited with it what it will do. Why is my efi live not seeing it. Thanks for help

Cummins ECM is CMB849.

Yes that is correct. The E67 is what it defaults to when it doesn't,t see or recognize the ECM that it is hooked to. This is a 06 so it should be a control area network controller so it should recognize it. It is a chance it has an 05 controller in it and that be why it's not reading it?

Are you trying to read in V8 or V7.5?

V8 is the only way to read the CMB849 ECM.

Click on Auto-Detect within the "read" section of V8

Have you just got EFILive or is there a chance what you have is really, really old, pre Cummins support?

It's just a few months old

If you can check on the side of the ECM, there is a sticker, on there it should say on the first line of part numbers - CM849B, can you confirm yours says that?

Ill do. It will be a few days. I sent the truck out on the road. Will update post when it comes back in Friday. I have a feeling it's a sci controller. Truck is an 06 but manufactured in 8/05. Thanks

Yeah, you might be the last of the SCI trucks. It's hard to know, the year model changes can happen pretty early on some vehicles.

8/05 should still be cmb849.

Dodge typically makes changes at the 1/2 year mark...so anything 6/05 and earlier should be SCI and after 6/05 should be CAN.

Just to clairify, I have an SCI ECM, CMB848G. The CAN BUSS ECMs are 849A and up?

Correct, all CM848's are SCI, CM849's are CAN.

Just curious, does your truck have the 06-09 headlights and interior?
