What tips/tricks are out there to help the engine burn cleaner for smog testing?
My vehicle is an '01 Silverado 5.3L LM7 with a 212/212 114LSA cam and unported but milled (for stock 9.5:1 SCR) 799 heads. The car is mechanically sound and will pass the visual and OBD (I hope), I'm just slightly worried about the sniffer test. The cam isn't all that big, but I don't want to fail because then the vehicle may become a "gross polluter" and will require even more strict smog checks.
So let's assume I'm starting with a completely stock tune...
Would a tuned VE table be better than a stock one?
Fan settings, higher or lower?
Other tricks for cleaner exhaust?
Thanks!
