Hi, trying to start a swap thread for my truck. I'm in Calif, so not really sure yet what state ref will approve.

The engine I want to swap in is a 6.0 Vortech from a 2004 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4x4.
Its going in a 2004 Ranger 4x4. My truck's GVWR is 9500lbs, so that puts me in
a Class 2 for Light Duty trucks. I was thinking the 1500, 2500, and 3500 are also LD trucks.

Plan is to put a 2004 6.0L + 4L60E and then adapt to my 4x4 setup. Obviously, I'll plan on tweaking the PCM w/EFI, but need/want 4x4 capability.

Anyone know what I will need to legally make this happen in Calif? Any other engine swaps ideas that are better (and legal)? The plan is to keep it the swapped engine 100% stock and use it to pull a trailer.
I would also sell off my 4.0L V6 + 5R55E Trans.

What do I need:

engine
trans
pcm + accessories
exhaust+cats

you will need to contact the DMV and find a location that has a BAR referee (typically your local college).
