Comparing my '01 Silverado 5.3L tune to an '02 Silverado 5.3L tune, I see that the '02 tune has the base spark table disabled via B5917 Base Spark Vehicle Speed Threshold being set to 250 mph. Can someone explain why the base spark table would be disabled? As advantage/disadvantage to doing to?

I converted my '01 Silverado tune to an '02 OS (12212156) so I can do a T56 segment swap, and I have been noticing a lot of little differences like these between two identical vehicles.

Thanks!

The vehicle speed isn't the only parameter that must be met to disable the main spark table. There is also a TPS threshold that must be met along with this speed threshold to disable the main spark table. When it disables the main spark table it will use the idle spark table for whatever condition you are in P/N or In Gear.

B5917 description says: "If the vehicle speed is below this value and the throttle is below threshold, then the base spark tables will be used."

also look at description of B5916.

You're right, I misread the description :bangin:

So the '02 tune has B5917 at 250 mph, while the '01 tune has it at 4 mph. B5916 Base Spark Throttle Closed Threshold is 1.19% for both. So I guess my question is, how is the base spark table used in conjunction with the other tables?
