Gonna have to replace my V2 box someday in the near future. With the V8 software getting closer to being finalized will there be a new box introduced? Should I wait as long as I can?

As far as I know, no. The FlashScan V2 is still ahead of it's competitors and the last update was in Dec 2010 (IIRC) with the updated blue case and SCI bus communications support added.

Why are you going to have to replace your V2?

At some point we will produce new hardware. We mentioned this in our January newsletter

"Hardware development is again on our agenda, with research commencing for another device to add to our suite. While we don't expect prototypes in 2013, much of the ground work is slated for this year."

Is that replacing the V2 or in addition to V2 and AutoCal?

Doh, forgot I read that. Still, it's going to be at least a year or more out.

Id imagine a replacement for the V2, no idea on ACs.

I guess the biggest reason is mine is getting worn out from all the action in and out of cars and plugging in and out. Someday I'm going to hit the license limit (200?) also.

Please add heavy duty cable connectors to the next model. Something that won't disconnect while you are logging if they are wiggled a little! I have tie straps around mine keeping pressure on the cable connectors. They have always wiggled since day one.

What prompted us in to at least discussing a V2/AC replacement is some of the parts we use have become obsolete so we are just using surplus parts from various suppliers, whilst other parts are having increasingly long lead times from order to supply (and seemingly go up in price each time). We've thrown around some idea's and looked at some of the modern chipsets that could be used, but, it is a fair time off before we replace the V2 entirely.

And please, no suggestions on what it needs to have (just yet), but on the cables, yes that is one of the first things we discussed.

The only thing that is needed on the v2 is the ability to see logged logs... that is it... system is awesome and its able to withstand abuse...
