View Full Version : having trouble with calc.ve

i set up calc.ve and a quick first log, the numbers i am seeing in a few spots make no sense to me as far as a ve table goes. hopefully someone here can point me in the right direction. i also posted a screen shot of the LTFTBEN as that does not make sense to me either unless its supposed to be a multiplier
Thanks
Joe

Hey Joe,
1st pic:
- edit the map properties:
- goto Cell tab, checkmark constrain cell size, and set the dell width;
- goto Data tab, set Precision to 4, checkmark Show Units;
- goto Row tab, checkmark Show Units;
- goto Col tab, checkmark Show Units;
- click Save,
- Exit.
2nd pic: the map is showing cell hit counts, see the n button is pressed... click on the x-bar button, this will show cell average value.

Are you doing Calc.VET (newer) or Calc.VE (older)...?
SLP IROC-Z
March 28th, 2013, 07:51 AM
ok, ill modify the propertys now. thats the thing when i click X to average it out the map goes to 0. i am using calc.ve. but i do have the latest EFI software and flash scan v2. just bought everything last week.

What units are you using in the VE table? If you're using % then you have to input your engine displacement into the log file, otherwise it will come up with all 0's. Use g*K/kPa instead.
The X button just removes cells with low cell count

i set it up for %. i just entered my displacement into the calc pids txt file. the log file still plays back as 0s but that is probably because there was no displacement entered at the time. ill try using g*k/kpa instead.
i really appreciate the help.

Try using Calc.VET instead. I tried Calc.VE first but was then told that it was outdated, so I used Calc.VET and got good results.

okay, i set up calc.vet and went for a ride. my map is all in decimals now, is this correct? i tried to copy, paste and multiply but it wont let me. it worked on the maf table however.

The MAF table looks right, the VE is not right. The MAF table you paste and multiply, the VE table you just paste in.
Post your calc pids text file.

ok thats what i thought. heres the file. also dynamic air temp does not work for me.

You need to also log GM.DYNAIRTMP_DMA for CALC.DAT to work. Post up the log file.

What OS are you using? The link says to use CALC.DYNAIRTMP if GM.DYNAIRTMP_DMA is not available. You will have to change it in the calc pids file too.

ill have to go outside in a min and double check the dynamic air temp pid. right now without it connected to my car it only says that calc.selben is unsupported.

Hmm, the link doesn't say whether or not it should be available on yours. Maybe try CALC.DYNAIRTMP, I don't know where to get the calc pid for it though. Might not be bad to change OS to something newer like 12212156.

Looks like the link to the calc_pids.txt defining CALC.DYNAIRTMP has disappeared... I'll fix it.

ill have to go outside in a min and double check the dynamic air temp pid. right now without it connected to my car it only says that calc.selben is unsupported.On the pids tab you have to do rightclick->More Info to see which other pids to select... keep doing this until there are no red X's on your selected pids.

The link says that these OS's support GM.DYNAIRTMP_DMA:
The pid GM.DYNAIRTMP_DMA is defined for these LS1 OS's:

12212156 supports GM.DYNAIRTMP_DMA and allows you to use COS3/02020003 or COS5/02020005.

thank you! again i appreciate all the help.Actually, the verbiage is slightly wrong/outdated...
the pid CALC.DAT is defined in terms of GM.DYNAIRTMP_DMA... but if that _DMA pid is not defined for an OS, then you have to used the CALC.DAT defined in terms of CALC.B4901 which is defined by using your B4901 values in a lookup() call... see the alternate calc_pids.txt file (in the Appendix section of post #1 of the Calc.VET thread)
i.e. there is no CALC.DYNAIRTMP pid anymore.

i changed the operating system now the only thing not supported is Ben selected from LTFT or WB; SELBEN, (CALC.SELBEN)
joecar

You have to select these pids: SAE.LONGFT1/2, GM.EQIVRATIO, EXT.WO2LAM1, CALC.LTFTBEN, CALC.WO2BEN, CALC.SELBEN.
edit: correction

for LTFT Pids i have SAE.LONGFT1 & SAE.LONGFT2 (had these selected before) and there is GM.LONGFTAVG1 GM.LONGFTAVG2
GM.EQIVRATIO, CALC.LTFT & CALC.SELBEN were selected before as well.
i just added the others. is a wideband necessary for this? i was under the assumption i could use the factory o2s for PT

See this link I posted before: http://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?22294-VE-Tuning-w-o-Wideband
joecar helped me set it up to do it w/o a wideband. I honestly haven't figured out how it works yet, but it seemed to work well enough for me.

Without a wideband, you can only tune Closed Loop.
