Is EFIlive suppose to open it?

EFILive uses it, but you cannot open it. They are EFILive's calibration mappings.

Erik,

you're thinking of .cax files.

The .calz files contain the calibration definitions in compressed/encrypted form (there's a calz file for each OS).

DUH!

Got 'em mixed up, .calz are calibration definitions that are compressed (compared to the older, uncompressed .cal files).

.cax files are for adding features to existing .calz files that EFILive has not added.
