Working on a 99 Corvette. I am wanting to update it to 2002 OS (12212156), but was concerned if there were any issues with this update. One example that I can think of is on trucks, there was a change in the alternator wiring on the newer OS which you have to make to the truck, or just simply turn off the DTC(s). I have always heard that Corvettes are kinda picky, so has anyone else successfully updated a 1999 to 02 OS?

Were there any issues with this?

As long as I put in the correct VIN #, shouldn't all the other modules (BCM, etc...) still work and be happy? or would I still need to the a re-learn.?

Thanks,

Be sure to use the Corvette specific 12212156 file (because you want the DBW settings).

For alternator options first look at tables G1206,7 in the 122121567 file.

Write the correct VIN from the scantool; and then do VATS relearn from the tunetool.

Later you would also have to do CASE relearn if you're going to use misfires.

For the Corvette, you might want to disable BCM and On-Star before full flashing to be safe (but not necessarily sure about this).

joecar,

Thanks for the advice. I had forgotten about having to do the CASE after updating the OS. So even if I keep the same VIN #, I will still have to do a VATS relearn?

Anyone else successfully update a 99 to an 02?

with the correct (same) VIN then VATS relearn is simple.
