View Full Version : I appear to be runnig out of injector duty

So I've updated my IFR after discovering there's two flow rates on the same part number!
I did a couple of CALC.VET logs made some corrections and logged a run on a quiet road. I made a couple of 2nd & 3rd gear 100% throttle runs and the checked my log. Looking at injector duty specifically I appear to be reaching 87% injector duty at peak RPM (6200). I've attached a screen shot below.
My question is if that is accurate I don't believe I have enough injector duty to install a 222/224 112 cam that I already have?
I'll have to import some injectors from the US back to the UK as there's bugger all available here! I was looking at a set of FIC Blue Demon III injectors (36lb @ 3 bar). I'd rather not buy second hand off Ebay etc.

Are you running stock injectors now? IIRC the highest Gen IIIs topped out at 32lb/hr (and some were 26/28). I know Im almost out of injector with my stock internal LS2, headers, and intake. Have some ID850s that are sitting here though, so when the time comes Ill be just fine. :D
Depending on your goals (and current mods), 36-42lb injectors sound pretty good. You can find good takeout LS3 42lb at 58psi (and sometimes LS9 injectors) for pretty reasonable, usually $100-150 for 8. Remember injector information is absolutely critical to getting a good tune, using the factory GM injectors means you can use the values in their respective tunes and massage the data into your existing tune.

FYI Bosch 280 155 931 injectors flow tested this week at 300cc or 28.55 lbs/hr @ 43.5 PSI. So works out to 32 lbs/hr @ 58 PSI.
My LS1 was rated at 383 HP by Holden/HSV as it was quite a late production engine. I had my exhaust system made on the car and don't have any cats. I've installed an Edelbrock 80mm TB and an LS2 85mm MAF which I will keep when I install the cam. The cam is fairly mild and is to be used with dual springs so I can rev the engine a little more as well. So I'm not expecting much beyond 450-470 FWHP without changing the heads and it has already been dyno'd at 415 FWHP on the dyno near me. My car is quite light at 1180 kgs so I will have plenty of poke with a cam.
I'm not getting caught out twice so any injectors I buy will be flow tested on my friends flow rig. I'd rather buy a re-manufactured set of injectors rather than 2nd hand (and then imported) as I can see on my injectors there's already signs of wear in the O-rings and a couple of split fibre washers where they sit in the head.

Ok, you'd be fine with 42lb injectors, probably ok with 36lb ones too. They're probably around the same price, Id get the LS3 42lb ones as they're factory injectors and have a good spray pattern plus all the data is available. My .02.

I have a spreadsheet for pasting the interpolated LS3 injector tables into an LS1 file.

I'll look for LS3 injectors but do I need 14mm fuel rail spacers and EV1 to EV6 wiring adapters? That starts to add up and as usual they'll have to come from the US (or Australia they have plenty of V8 injectors).

Thanks for the attachment but...
I was going to look for some LS3 injectors but as they aren't a direct fit I've ordered a set of Bosch 0280155811 (white) injectors off Ebay.com . I send stuff to my sis in Florida and she posts them on to me.
The seller has the injector data to hand which should be useful plus of course they were significantly less than LS3 injectors + any adapters required to fit them.

Werent there some flexfuel truck injectors that were 32 lb/hr?
