View Full Version : Segment swapped by HPT....won't read with EFIL

I'm assuming that the reason why EFIL won't read this LS1 controller is because it has a segment swapped cal by HPT. Its using a Vette OS but the platform is still the truck. If I flash it with a stock Vette auto OS it should allow me to read it with EFIL and start over with an EFIL segment swap......yes....no? Joe??

Did HPT lock the PCM...?

Heck if you can flash it (ie its not locked), then there's no reason to even read it out again unless you want to verify everything.

Can you get PCM details using V7.5 to see if it's locked? The seg swap shouldnt matter, it sounds like the PCM is locked.

It finds the unlocking seed but fails the bootloader....

Its a valid OS but what I was wondering was if EFIL looks at all the segments to see if they are the ones that belong with that OS

I sent a message to Paul.

did you try v8? There was a bug in recent release where v7 would report failed bootloader. May 20 Update has the fix.

No not at all, we don't even care if there is no VIN in there, it should just read out whatever was in there and away you go. I suspect kangsta's suggestion might be the answer.

V8 does it again!

Told ya you need to get familiar with it! :D Now flash a few times with V8, dare you to go back to V7.5...

Except it's an LS1 PCM, VPW is still slow no matter what you are using, CAN is a different kettle of fish.

True, but at least the P10s I do flash in ~20-25s vs 30-40s before (IIRC).

Wow, that is weird Erik, I would have expected very little difference.

Ill double check it next time I tune a P10, but I remember it being at least 10s faster with V8/AC/FSV2 vs V7.5.
