Fuel pump while flashing

Is it normal for the lift pump to run and sometimes pulse while doing a full flash on cummins 5.9?

It did on the 5.9 and 6.7 I've flashed. I recommend after the flash that you turn the key to on, wait 5 seconds, then turn it off before you start the truck. Otherwise it may die shortly after you start it. I have no explanation for that, just an observation

I usually just pull the fuse on my Air Dog while flashing.
