View Full Version : Barometer Update?

Can someone explain how and when the barometer value updates? I was logging GM.BARO this morning and it updated from 101 kPa to 104+ kPa while I was on the throttle. I have the max RPM for baro update set to 2000 RPM (per the COS tutorial), but I was over this when it updated. This is a turbo truck with a 2bar MAP sensor COS5 OLSD.

How do I get it to update reliably with a turbo? Can I lower the update RPM range to say 800-1600? I can easily make boost under 2000 RPM. Even cruising at 1600 RPM's on the highway I can make a couple psi at WOT.

Why did it update above 2000 RPM?

Is it possible to disable it from updating other than at key on engine off? I'm guessing this is okay as long as my altitude variation isn't significant. But it would be nice for it to update reliably as I occasionally see large variations in altitude.

How does the PCM use the barometer pressure? Only thing I can think of is DFCO enable and to determine MANVAC?

Thanks!

I messed with the barometer update settings today and can't stop it from updating... it waits until I'm just barely in boost and then it updates to 104.4 kPa.

First I set min and max RPM for update to 800 and 1400 RPM, it still updated around 2500 RPM.
Then I set update timer to max value, still updated.
Then I set min and max RPM to 0 and 1 RPM, and the min TPS to 100, still updated...

What am I missing here?
