I have an '87 s10 with an '03 L59 and 200-4r. Right now my tune is from an '03 Suburban (I believe) because the pcm I purchased with the engine was not flexfuel and therefor didn't match my injectors. I have wanted to keep the auto tune for converter lockup, and I may still remain with it though I don't have TCC functional through the pcm yet. However I see many threads where it is recommended that one switches to a manual tune. Considering I already turned off all of the nuisance codes and raised torque limits etc for the non-electronic transmission, is there any benefit to going with a manual tune? Does the pcm have any different logic for spark or fueling based on what the transmission side of things are doing? (aside from say backing off throttle position/timing through a shift) Will it affect or further remove any torque management? Allow better fuel trimming or more optimal timing? I plan on purchasing a wbo2 setup soon but want to make sure i'm starting with the best base tune. I don't want something simple or foolish such as lack of trans range selector holding back power while i'm trying to dial everything in.
