im working on my own truck, i currently just put a 408 ive performed calc.vet on other trucks and never had an issue tuning them but most set ups r smaller. my map is getting me some crazy numbers that just dont make any sense. attached is a basic log i used and i tried to stay under 5500 since im waiting to instal a fuel pump and injectors. im still on stock ones. can anyone take a look and give me some info on y im getting such high numbers? the tune is my start up tune. motor only has about 30 miles on it. i got it to idle with current tune and waiting on fuel pump and injectors just looking to get a good basetune to break in the motor in the lower rpm... this was on the truck when i went for a calc.vet log. and the log is the vet log. thanks..

Can you post:
- your calc_pids.txt file,
- pics of your SELBEN map and VET map (from the scantool).

In each of the maps, goto map properties, on the Data tab set the precision to 3 or 4.

For the purpose of logging data for tuning, you want the fastest sample rate (to get the most data)

this means the pid channel count must not exceed 24 channels (see bottom of PID tab and Data tab)

your pid channel count is 25... so remove the pid SAE.VSS and capture another log.


0-24 channels in Fast mode: sample rate = 10 frames/second
25-48 channels in Fast mode: sample rate = 5 frames/second (you're collecting only half of the data)

If your FPR is manifold-referenced then your B4001 IFR is wrong.

truck is an 05gmcsierra im assuming i am manifold-referenced not sure.. its got a returnless fuel system. i havent touched b4001


What wideband are you using...?.

In your log EXT.WO2LAM1 is pegged at 1.7... your LC-1 is not communicating with your V2.

attached is my current file on the truck and the log i made after i fixed wideband issue. truck has fuel trims between 0-4.7 and occasionally hits 5.5 and once or twice 7.. now remember i didn't do any wot because im still on stock injectors and fuel pump just wanted something i could use to drive around and break in the motor. other question. truck actually idles pretty nice but after leaving the tune in for a while it starts to really act up at idle.. if i flash the tune all over it will idle almost 100 percent for the first 20 minutes of driving around then starts to act up again. any hint i can use as far as helping me fix this? where r my idle learning tables. will disabling them fix this issue?

If you're trying to break in a motor you need moderate linear throttle and then assuming everything looks good you need WOT to seat the rings properly. I wouldn't put too many miles on the motor just cruising around.

im not sure which file this was im thinking it wasnt the one i used for the ve but motor has seen up to 5500 acouple times and saw only saw steady driving for 150 miles after i had done the ve tuning when i drove it home from the shop. i cant go wot since im still on stock fuel pump and injectors but it has seen some hard pulls a couple times in first gear...
