Hello all, I am working with a person who is getting Freightliner body R/V together so he and his sick wife can tour North America. He is using an 8.1l engine and wiring schematics for a 2006 UFO(Universal Fueling Option) Workhorse gas/pusher system. We are looking for a TCM part number for the use with the 6 speed Allison transmission. The ECM's called out of this UFO gas pusher are 12589462, 12602801, and 89017749. The TCM needed is listed as the 4th Generation TCM that began use in 2006. Does a specific TCM need to be used, or can and 4th GEN TCM be used and flashed with the appropriate calibrations? I have a complete wiring diagram for this 2006 Workhorse UFO chassis and it lists part numbers for every single connector that is used on the chassis, but no p/n for the ECM/PCM/TCM or FCCM/RCCM (Front Chassis COntrol Module/Rear Chassis COntrol Module). I can send this document to anyone if it will help, just PM me an email address. Thanks for any help or opinions you can give.

Given it's a 6 speed and a 2006 I would say it's an 'A40' TCM, the one I have here has the GM service number 15117030, but that would most certainly be from a Duramax truck.

OK the trans is really a 2004/5 5 speed Allison, but the Allison tech have given this guy a conversion list with p/n's to convert the GEN 3 trans controller to the 2006+ GEN 4 TCM. The UFO option used the 8.1 gas and a CUmmins diesel. COuld the E40 TCM 06+ and 12589462, 12602801, and 89017749 ECM be full flashed with the proper 2006 Allison trans/8.1 gas calibration? ro does a Duramax TCM have to be used with a a Duramax engine? If this guy left the trans as a 5 speed, does that make it any easier TCM/PCM wise? Would using the 5 speed trans allow any sort of off board trans control, what inputs would a GEN 3 05 TCM need to see to perform shifting duties? thanks I appreciate it.

This 2006 UFO uses a Forward Chassis Control Module(FCCM) and a Rear Chassis Control Module(RCCM). Do these CCM's have to be included for TCM/ECM operation? I can email the wiring diagram. I just don't know where the CAN system starts and stops its involvement. thanks Paul

There's a few people around selling 5 to 6 speed conversion kits that use the older 5 speed TCM.
The gas/Diesel TCM's are the same AFAIK, just the calibrations in them would be different.
