What would be cool is to have the GPS output a standard serial format and run that into the RS232 port on the FSV2....

I meant in the situation of finding a lost or stolen one, but this could be a nice idea too. Although I see the Harry's Lap Timer a better option for what you want to do.

So you'd need the following.....


Mini GPS unit with mobile data sim card option.
Power supply


There's a little bit of room inside the case to do this and I've thought about just adding a 3.7V Li-Ion battery cell so I don;t have to keep resetting the time on the V2. With a bit of tricky wiring, you could charge the cell off the USB / OBD-II power and it would charge every time it's plugged in.

The cheaper option is to add your phone number and a "reward if found message" to the splash screen.

Check out the Fleece data logger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Eku_TVtcZ8), it has lots of input channels, GPS, accelerometer and integrates with V2 through the serial port.
