Are you opening EFI explorer to edit the files on the V2? Because the V2 never shows up as a media device in windows. Only EFI's software will read/write to the V2
Or are you saying the computer never connects at all to the V2

No I am trying to get this working for the first time. I can't get the v2 to connect to the lap top. The lights flash and the USB shows as connected, but no connection

Did you try to install the drivers manually by going to device manager and selected the drivers you download from here:

After plugging in the V2, it *should* show up under the USB Devices and you'll be able to click update driver software, browse to the file you downloaded and unzipped give that a try.

Do you get the V2 icon in the taskbar (Next to the clock), if you do are you able to bring up the EFILive Control panel by clicking "show"?

I'm assuming you have a Blue v2 and not a black one? I'm having the exact same problem on my PC also. I've tested with Win 7 and 8, you can see my V2 "Unresponsive" thread this same forum.
Hopefully we can get it figured out as it's completely useless at this moment.

We have been able to reproduce a similar problem to what has been reported in this thread. It appears un-related to any particular software version or USB driver version.
As soon as we can narrow down the cause of the problem and figure out a solution I'll post an update in this thread:
