I just wanted to let you guys know that EFIConnection now offers a new redesigned 24x relcutor for the 1996-2002 vans/1996-99 trucks and the 1996-2000 SUV's that are equipped with the Vortec 305/350 L30/L31.

For $199 you get a redesigned 24x reluctor, a cap for the distributer body as the distributer is used for the 1x camshaft position signal, a crankshaft position sensor and a new plastic front timing cover that holds the CKP sensor.
Then you can use EFILive to recalibrate a 512kb dual 80 pin connector PCM along with an LS1 F-body(Camaro/Firebird) calibration for cable throttle( or DBC-Drive By Cable), or an LS1 Corvette calibration for Electronic Throttle COntrol(ETC or DBW=Drive By Wire).

With this kit the GEN 3, 8 coil near plug (CNP) setup can be used on a Vortec truck. This kit, a 512 kb PCM and CNP ignition. A nice step up from a single coil ignition, blackbox PCM setup.

That pricing is crazy good, for sure jump on this deal. I just ordered mine.

Here is the package.

EFILive will work perfectly with this kit.

My parts came in:

I ordered:
1) Mike's book
2) Parts for 2 80 pin connectors 2 connectors, 4 retainers
3) Stock Cap/Rotor
4) EFIConnection's aluminum distributer cap(their version of GM's plastic D324A cap)
5) EFICon's new 24x reluctor for single row timing chains that reads conventional Vortec CKP sensors
All parts were professionally packaged and arrived unharmed without any shipping damage. Shipping was quoted at $33 which was added to my bill on the EFIConnection end. Because I was shipping from the USA to Canada, there was a $39.79 charge when I picked it up. This actually less than I have experienced in the past. Customs did NOT open my package, usually they do.
1) Mike's book is clean, with appropriate photos, diagrams and charts where necessary. There are 15 Chapters and 144 pages. I am a reader, so this was a must. Anyone considering 24x or 0411 PCM swaps or anyone who is curious should
snag this book. It is certainly a great addition to my mountain of GM reference materials.
2) I bought parts for 2 80 pin connectors. I only ordered 1 of each blue and red connector, Mike realizing my error, kindly added 1 extra of each to my order. When I do my 512kb PCM upgrade, I just wanted to start with fresh connectors even though I already have a complete 0411 PCM/connector/harness from a 2001 Blazer.
3) Kinda weird, but I ordered a new V8 cap/rotor. These appear to be quality pieces as they use brass terminals. Not all of my GMT 400 L31 fleet will be privey to a 24x ignition/0411 PCM upgrade and there is no way I can come close to Mike's price of $15.00. A Delco 10452459 cap is $60 and a Delco rotor is almost $20 up here from the stealership and do NOT have brass contacts. This savings alone paid for most of my shipping.
4) Mike's aluminum distributer cap is a quality part at a reasonable price. I wanted one to take a peak at. It is a solid quality part.

5) The 24x single timing chain CKP reluctor, that is readable by the L30/31 CKP sensor is a surprise. It is truly beefy and durability is certainly no concern here. Machining is clean with no flash or burrs present. I'm guessing that it's coated with something, but not 100% sure. Great quality and at $149 alone, or $199 in kit form a great deal for all wanting to do this.

I still need to gather some parts, coils and coil harnesses. Actual L21 harnesses are $140- from GM for each side.

Very happy with the transaction even though it was across international borders.

Any more info on the kit? Have you installed it yet?

Negative Ghostrider, the kit has not been installed. I know of a few that have been though. A gentleman, callsign, Lextech, has installed the 24x reluctor kit on his 98 reg cab 2wd twin turbo Chev truck, S 60 rear end, 305 longblock, CNP ignitionwith coils mounted on the firewall. Beautiful truck.
He is responsible for all the 1996-97, 1998-2000 "blackbox" PCM to 0411 PCM retrofit wiring conversion files.
His truck is featured in the EFIConnection GEN 3 PCM book written by EFIConnections owner Mike Noonan.

This mod sounds intriguing. But can someone tell me the benefits of doing this?

I have the kit coming in a few days, just wondering what base tune to start with for a 4x4 '99 s10 with an 0411. Then what tables do I change without losing any benefit of having the 24x (timing improvements, for example).

What engine is in your 1999 S10?

You wont be able to change any tables that will undo the upgrade to the 0411 and the 24x reluctor.

I have a 99 5.7 Vortec in it now.

Are you up and running already on the 0411 on your L31? You are probably running some sort of 01-02 L31 express van calibration now.

If you are running a cable throttle, you will use a Camaro LS1 calibration as teh LS1 Camaros run cable throttle.
If using ETC you will run a Vette LS1 calibration as the LS1 Vettes run ETC.

Will that tune support 4x4 low, AC request, etc? Is 4x4 low signal even necessary for pcm?

Also, which tables do I need to change if starting with the ls1 tune?

And yes, I have been up and running for two years. I'm just sick of the missing and p0300's.

You will require some work for proper 4Lo shifting. Its all been done before around here.
