UPDATED NOVEMBER 18, 2014
***Files now included in Oct 28, 2014 (or later) software release***
Ross has spent a lot of time working through the 6.7L overhead chime issue. We had hoped to have a permanent fix publicly released before we left for PRI, but unfortunately we have run out of time. All is not lost, below is link and instructions to a public beta for these features which has been extensively tested by our beta testers and a number of individual customers who have contacted me over the last few months.
To install these files, Customers MUST first update their V7 software, V8 software and firmware to our **REMOVED LINK**
NOTE: PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE is ONLY available via manual download. PRE-RELEASE SOFTWARE (if available) is listed on our DOWNLOADS page BELOW Public Release software.
Before you install these files, you should know that these in this format MAY NOT become our permanent fix. There may be some slight changes between public beta and public release.
These files DO NOT cover all OS's but here is the list of OS's the fix can be used on.

There are changes to be made in a number of places, the first is B7500 - see dealer reminder timer. Extend this to 360. (Timer is now set to chime every 6 hours).
The second set of changes is under F2000.
Below is a picture of the new tables
http://download.efilive.com/Staff/GMPX/DTCListNew.png
It's hopefully self explanatory on how it works, just select 'Not Used' next to the DTC you want disabled. If you need to re-enable a DTC just select the correct P code from the drop down list.
DTC's have multiple instances, so make sure you catch them all.
If you want to quickly disable a DTC, just select the cell you want and press the letter 'n' on the keyboard rather than using the drop down list.
One thing I would like you to keep an eye out for is a mismatch of P codes, eg, instead of it showing this:
P125B "Power Enable Control Circuit High" P125B
It might show this
P125B "Power Enable Control Circuit High" P1096 << that would be wrong
Cheers

Cindy, I think it needs to be added that this is not a sure fire fix for the overhead chime. We are still getting it on several trucks, but the timer and enhanced code tables help to minimize the issues. It is still likely that problem trucks will still have messages with this software.

well guess i'm gonna need a little help getting this to work? so how do I go about installing this over the latest V7 update?
Yep ran the update a couple times I have the nov 7th and none of the tunes are showing the B7500 timer or the F2000 part either? I must be doing something wrong?

Sure you can pay Bully Dog some ridiculous amount of money to open the ECM up, but nobody has hex editing for it yet that's stable...Ryan tried, but don't think it went well.
While this update will kill the "See Dealer Reminder" dinging every 10-min it doesn't stop all the OHD chimes...so its a small victory.

Thanks for the great work guys. While this is just a small step forward, I am happy that as a user, I now have the ability to change this and not have to go through one of the beta testers. Not that they haven't been great about making the changes but it's just nice to not have to bug them for something some menial....

Yeah, 2013 went to another ECM again.
2006-2007 use a CM849
2008-2010 use a CM2100
2011-2012 use a CM2200
2013+ use a CM2350
Really, a two year life span on ECM's? GM gas cars still use the same ECM from 2006 to 2014 models on some engines.....and they went broke!

We still get mixed feedback Les, some people we've sent this out to have an all clear on all fronts.

Confirm you have an os supported by the files.

You shouldn't need to reopen the file, but we do recommend you build from scratch.

Under F2000, P0489 "egr control circuit low" is listed twice. Row #1 and 49. OS #11551035
2007 5.9
November 18th, 2013, 01:25 AM
P0489 is listed several times in most OS. That code is a generic EGR code.
GMPX
November 18th, 2013, 08:54 AM
Yeah, how it actually works (and this is what also makes it hard) is the ECM monitors items for failure, so in the case of the EGR Low, it might detect a short circuit on the wire or the output might have failed, two different problems but then the F2000 table is used to assign a failure to a P code. This is why you can end up with a number of instances of the same code and different items might cause a similar failure.
I've said to a few people that the programmers at GM/Delphi deserve a medal for how they designed the DTC reporting, Cummins and Bosch ECM's are pretty confusing for sure.

When you double click the cmc.zip file, that file will pop up in a different window with the files inside it.
You will see the files inside a new window, over to the left there will be a link inside the box in that window that says "Extract All Files".
Click that "Extract All Files" link, a dialogue box will pop up that asks you where you want to extract these files to.
Browse to C:\ProgramFiles\EFILive\V7\Calibrations\CMC and then click "OK".
At that point it will ask you if you want to replace the files already in the CMC folder, Click "Yes to All".

I don't get the logic behind these car makers year model designations, how does a 2014 model car get released in May 2013 (2014 Impala), or is that the 2013.5 model? Given the range could be 2013.1 (January) or 2013.12 (December) lets just stop being silly and call it a 2013 until the calender ticks over to 2014. Isn't this a bit like saying you are 30 years old 6 months before your 30th birthday?

It should not be going through an EFILive update. These files are just to add to the software to get the other options we need. There isn't any update in these files. When you open that file, you see the *.calz files in a window. If you right click out in the open area below the files, the option at the bottom of the sub menu is "Extract All". Click that and then browse to where the cmc files are per Cindy's instructions. You have to extract the files. You can't copy and paste them. At least it would not let me copy and paste them on my machine.

I am going to suggest that you have downloaded the November 7 release and saved that to your desktop.
The zip file I posted is not in anyway tied to an EFILive installation. It's merely a zip file containing 7 calz files, so it's not possible to click on the zip and get an EFILive installation/update message.
Navigate through your folders to where ever you save your downloads and look for a folder called CMC. You may need to extract the zip, or it may have done it for you. In either case, copy and paste the 7 files into the directory listed above.

My dads 08 6.7 has the 11720809 OS(I think, either way it was one on the list). I flashed his truck the other day with p0489 disabled and the overhead message and 5 chimes were gone. It would just say see dealer for 3 seconds or so then show the temperature like it should. That last for about a week. Then went back to normal, 5 chimes, power reduced see dealer on the overhead. CEL has remained on the entire time. He noticed some loss in power, so I decided we would flash his truck again to see if that could be fixed. Fast forward to today, I get his truck flashed over with the same tune, this time the CEL disappears(which makes him tickled pink), but the overhead and 5 chimes did not change. Just thought I would report with some info and ask a question as well. Could he be potentially be seeing some power loss? He noticed when he was pulling his 6x10 trailer with an artic cat prowler up hill because his transmission downshifted twice(the hill isn't that steep to cause that). When he drove home tonight with the same prowler and trailer after the flash, it felt normal power again.

I have a guy that has gone away three times now with no problem then after fueling the truck drives it another 20+ miles then gets the message and from that point gets it every 20-40 miles. I just learned that he is not shutting the truck off while fueling but aside from that i can't see any reason we would be getting the message. No overhead message, no codes. Its an 09 truck. There are (at least) three issues that over time have all been lumped into one thread. Without adequate description of which issue each customer has, developing a solution is difficult. Likewise we've heard mixed reports that the parameters are working on certain trucks (but which condition did that truck originally have?) so we require that feedback too.
The issues in this thread appear to fall into 3 categories
1. Chime (at what intervals, can it be cleared?),
2. Overhead message (what message, when is the message displayed, are you able to reset this?)
3. Dash message (what message, when is the message displayed and are you able to reset this?)
If you have an issue, or if the issue you had as been cured by the zipped calibration files, can you please provide us feedback categorizing the issue, along with the details of the truck and any other information you may feel is relevant.
Cheers
Cindy
******NOTE*******
To use the parameters available in the first post of this thread, customers will need to install the latest software release from our website, and patch the zip file from the first post. These calibration files are NOT AVAILABLE in the public download, so if you have previously used these, then performed a full software installation, you will need to reinstall the zip file to regain access.

Cindy,
My particular issue is on a 2008 C&C and it has a chime and "Service Required See Dealer" overhead message. It happens every 10 minutes once I have been traveling down the road for about a half hour. It seems to self clear once you hit a button on the overhead display. After you hit the button and scroll to system messages it says system OK. My OS is 11610805 and cal is 61300434AM. This OS isn't included in the list at the beginning of this thread so that isn't an option for me. Anyhow this is the particular issue I am having if it helps.

Thank you to the 2 people that have responded.
Just an update to this thread. Adequate information from a wider selection of vehicles is needed to move these issues towards resolution. Without adequate information, these issues will not be addressed and we will once again move onto new/different projects. The impetus to return to this issue in the future will be greatly diminished once CSP for 6.7L is released.

Trucks with os 11720809 all experiencing an alert after 20-40 miles out from a restart. see dealer message on overhead can reset and be fine until restart, one with dpf full message on dash at same time as overhead and power loss after message, two trucks with the overhead chime and no complaint of power loss. all trucks i am involved with seem to chime once then be fine until restart. Have one 11620604 with overhead chime, same deal around 30 miles after a restart.
Thanks for looking for a solution to this issue. have tried running different os that i have trucks running fine with but still have the issue.
Cindy I will do anything I can help with I have a over a dozen 6.7's local to me that in sure I can have for a period of time to try anything or to help gain information to resolve this. Let me know what you need and how I can help.

This is the other thing I have noticed there is a lot of parameters that were no disabled In my original tunes that I had another member set the dealer reminder to 360 this page in the tune was not mentioned but it looks to me that these parameters need to be disabled also?

Oh and one more thing when I open the tune that the dealer reminder is set to the 360 even after saved it still has the blue due to being out of range. set it to 359 ad save and they are gone. does it still work (I'm guessing so) when set to the max or out of range?

Thank you to the 2 people that have responded.
Just an update to this thread. Adequate information from a wider selection of vehicles is needed to move these issues towards resolution. Without adequate information, these issues will not be addressed and we will once again move onto new/different projects. The impetus to return to this issue in the future will be greatly diminished once CSP for 6.7L is released.

I too have an 08 , it would be covered under the operating systems mentioned earlier, with the patch file. I updated my ecm about a month ago with a stock deleted file, no fueling changes just some deletes, it has been running perfect , as I just use the truck on short little drives . When I take the truck out on longer drives on the highway, it takes around twenty minutes for a DPF FULL to show up on the dash , and see dealer for service in the over head, and a chime, it chimes every ten minutes as long as im driving, I can clear the see dealer for service from the over head and it comes back every ten minutes after, funny thing is and its happened on every drive on the return trip home is that nothing happens at all no DPF FULL no chimes and no over head notice, I cant get into my stock deleted file as I had it deleted by a vendor and the file is locked, so editing it isn't an option, don't feel im qualified to write my own stock deleted file either so im not entertaining the idea of trying either, until I learn a lot more
Just wanted to post my finding to add to the data base, I have the chime and then I don't go figure that one out

Hey Cindy,
Did you receive my PM in regards to this subject. Three of the 6.7's that I have had the dinning issue with, seems to be related to using the cruse control for 20-30 minutes time. You get a set of dings, and the overhead says perform service. I have extended all of the timers to the max. Now when driving back roads, or if you are on the gas and off a lot the overhead never goes off. If you need any more info just let me know.
Thanks

I've got a fleet of these trucks now with the 'chime' message. The only trucks that have no errors do not have the overhead display. I thought we had this fixed several months ago, but it seems like the qualifiers are this:
1. Steady state cruise
2. Exactly 10 minutes at cruise ( setting to 360 minutes has had no effect in solving the problem).
3. Have tried a multitude of combinations of code on/offs, none of which affect the overhead message (Service Required...see Dealer now)
4. Have reset everything with the dealer level scan tool, including the maintenance reminder that trips at 65000miles.
I'm running those latest updates as per messages here.

B7500 is the "See Dealer Reminder Timer" which consequently is set at 10 minutes on a stock file. Its a single parameter not a series of them?

To date we haven't had a truck fail the amended parameters, with the exception of one (which also has other issues and from memory is a transplant). Those customers who have had issues have resolved them by adequately checking their files. One tuner has 'fixed' at least 6 problem trucks tuned by others by simply checking and editing the tune files they were provided. You may also need to review the list of which files received the update.
I suggest you review your tune files, look for multiple instances of DTC's, check soot level counters and CCV resets. If all else fails you may need to employ the skills of a tuner that has mastered this. It's not easy, but the parameters are all there.

on this truck. If you'll note the file I sent, it's got the 'minimum deletions in the treatment section' for a 'no code' and no derate, which works fine.

There are simply too many old OS's out there to provide support for them all in a reasonable time frame, so we took the decision to only provide updates on the most recent dealer updates.
The short term solution is to determine the most recent file for your vehicle and see if that is mapped for chime enhancements. Additionally all CSP operating systems provide that functionality.

I'll be testing on a few more trucks that we'd already done, and I'll let you know. I've already let the guy that pm'd me that
his ideas about the DTC list didn't work. Not that they're bad ideas...they just don't change the situation I'm in.
What I did kills the initial 'chime' that still shows up after a 10 minute drive, and 'may or maynot' chime again, depending on vehicle load.
I need to make sure it's not just a fluke, and that it's definitely repeatable.
I'd set it like you mentioned, and thanks for your help, but this truck still had the initial 10 minute chime

Set the ''Chime timer'' value to the same number of free trips to Hawaii you've had this year. Unless you've actually had a free trip to Hawaii this year, that
value would then be wrong to enter. We're also assuming you've got all your other values set right.

Timer to 360 - Instant Chime
EVERY SINGLE DTC TURNED OFF - Instant Chime
Every single Exhaust treatment parameter turned to disabled - Instant Chime
Soot Level thresholds set to 9.03 - Instant Chime

Im not sure, we got a call from a local Exhaust shop to do the delete. They did the work underneath and I plugged into it. Did Not ask questions about how it was done so I cannot really comment on that part of it. All I know is that back to stock to drive it for a bit then back to a tune worked in this case.
