I can't read an e38 with my v2, but my friend can read it with his v2 set up the same. any help would be appreciated.

Did you setup the BBx config for this...?

(i.e. start V8 S&T, goto BBx, goto Tune tab, does list of ECM's mention E38...? And if it does, did you flash this into your V2...?)

yes I did set up the BBx config for e38. In V8 this is what I get

"Executing: C:\Program Files (x86)\EFILive\V8\Config\E38_R.obj
Virtual Machine Started
Script Loaded
Script Verified
Executing: Boot Loader...
Unlocking: Trying MFG Key...
Please: Wait...
Script exited with code $0101: No data received"

And windows gives me a connected device not responding message
