Where does EFI LIVE 7.5 expect to find this file on disk? It appears as if the file is not found or not being used.
I have used the RR endlessly without problem, but today I was trying to autotune my VE table with
RR. I was able to log both MAP and RPM, but my BEN variable, which I call CALC.WB_VE_ADJ is not showing up in the RR box and thus no changes are made to VE.

Nothing to change really unless you want to add a new CALC PID to it. I have one called CALC.VEADJ that creates a multiplier based on AFR and MAP.
It is used for the RoadRunner to do live tuning.

Several things:
in the tunetool use kPa for the MAP axis;
in the scantool select Metric units for MAP;
in the scantool what BEN pid are you logging (if you have serial comms from your wideband, then this pid will be CALC.WO2BEN)...?

i dont know joe , maybe tackling two new tools at one time isnt a good combo , I think im close and fail ,,, I really do not like the fact that there isnt a complete write up on a sophisticated tool as this even the setup takes an act of congress ,and no documentation from moates ,sent them an email and I feel like they made me out to be an idiot anyway i used this pid at someones comment about matching my aem up ,, very frustrated at this point ,,,and i dont see a linK_map anywhere so im stuck on rpm only at 15 kpa with no correction

May 17th, 2014, 07:58 PM
Did you enter the V7 software license info from the blue card...?
Which wideband do you have (I don't remember anything any more)...? Is it stuck at AFR 10.24...?
SW1911
May 18th, 2014, 01:33 AM
its an aem 30-4100 yes everything entered and is visible not stuck different values with different widebands which make sense check it out,
I think it may be partially the cable causing the drop out in scanning (no problems with any other dlc tools ) i can pull up a file and its fine , when I pull up roadrunner and pull the tune is where the license issue comes into play and i cant save my modified file , could be me doing something wrong ?
edit wide band is now working , still in demo and now I understand the linking process but when i go to timing with the row and axis links no workie the calc pid does not show up in the rr box

Jim,
Follow these links:
configuring units in scantool:
- on PIDs (F8) tab, on each pid do rightclick->Imperial,
- on Data (F9) tab, verify that that all those pids show Imperial units.

In tunetool do:
- Edit->Configure Display Properties,
- click on the Col Units column heading (to sort by that column),
- scroll down until you see a bunch of "Oz/Cylinder" units (should be all grouped together due to the sorting),
- hightlight the group,
- do rightclick->Column Label Units->Metric,
- click Ok.
- reopen your timing table.

Well the tables are being tracked fine now. What pid are you trying to use to modify the timing table? If it is a custom calc pid you have wrote it needs to be added to the cal link text file for the tables you are modifying.
Personally I just have the RR in emulation mode, track the table by logging the axis pids & modify the tables using the function keys. (F7 & F8 IIRC)
SW1911
May 20th, 2014, 12:07 PM
No mick im using the calc txt link with no mods as you and see the link I need is in my pid list , I wonder if its the custom o/s ???? they are being tracked but no link so no changes
5.7ute
May 20th, 2014, 12:32 PM
Tune tool is tracking fine. (You can see the blue square that moves around the table cells) The blank space is due to no parameter being linked to modify the table.
For instance when doing RTACS for the VE table. RPM & MAP are logged to designate which cell the pcm is using. BEN is used as the modifier for the cell which is highlighted & performs the changes until you hit the percentage of accuracy you have designated.
There is no pid written to modify the timing table. On a dyno you could make a calc pid that reads torque & modifies timing until MBT is achieved. (if the dyno can be linked into Efilive like the Mainline Dyno's over here )
Or you could write a pid that increases timing until knock is present & back off a few degrees. Not recommended as highly inaccurate.
Whatever you decide to do, to use real time tuning on any table you need to modify the cal link text to have your custom calc pid linked to it.
joecar
May 21st, 2014, 06:02 AM
Jim, you have to manually edit the timing table (while RR is running). You could make a modfier pid that subtracts the pid GM.KR, but this is not recommended.

iI found a weird problem which is two fold , first all software and pids for scanner are in imperial , but trying t do ve I have to switch map to metric for it to work and I tried this on several computers . second i have one computer that is correctly licensed for RR and efi and it stays in demo and the splitter doesn't work correctly scanner drops out about every two minutes , and im curious what else besides ve and or boost tables I can run and correct with RR , Joe we need a write up , a complete one I know Im new but I will help get it started ,maybe we can pull all of the good info of the threads and put those together and finish it , It would free you and others up alot to help with other issues

setting units to Metric in scantool:
- goto PIDs tab,
- click twice on column heading "Units" (sorts the pid list on that column),
- scroll down until you see a group of pids with units "kPa,PSI",
- highlight that group of pids (click on the first one, hold SHIFT, click on last one, release SHIFT),
- on the highlighted pids do rightclick->Metric (the Default column will now say Metric.
setting units to Metric in the scantool maps:
- choose a map (click the map's letter tab),
- goto the map properties,
- on each of the Data, Row and Column tabs select the Metric variant of the pid of interest,
- remember to checkmark "Show Units" on each tab,
- remember to save the map.

On PC where EFILive V7 software says Demo mode, go Help->Register EFILive copy the blue card details exactly (the date field is non-US style)...
also enter your RR serial number;
i.e. see attached:

Click Ok.
And then copy the file \My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\User Configuration\License.txt to all your PC's.

so I should set the scan tool and the tune tool to all metric ? and yes the driver is updated , but why when im set to imperial everywhere do iz need to set map to metric ? its boggling my mind
joecar
May 26th, 2014, 12:32 PM
It will be easiest to set everything to Metric.
In the map properties, an available pid will have two variants: Metric (e.g. SAE.MAP.kPa) and Imperial (SAE.MAP.psi)... choose the Metric variant.
