So I bought my efi live from an individual. But now when I go to update my controller or even try to license it. I get a message that says controller not responding. I'm guessing this means they hooked it up wrong and fried it? Any help is greatly appreciated. I don't have a problem sending it back for repair. Just need to know if this is the likely solution?

What ECM...?
What year/model/vehicle for engine and ECM...?
Is this a transplant...?

Is the V2 configured...?
What build versions of V7 and V8 software are you running...?
What V2 firmware version...?

Are you sure you have your wiring correct (missing grounds...?)...?

( no information to go on )

Have you tried the following on a running vehicle:
- scan OBD-II data...?
- log pids...?
- read the ECM/PCM calibration and save to file...?

Joecar, no sir I have not tried any of that yet. I'm still trying to get all the software to be happy. But here is the info I have for you from what was requested. The car is a stock 08 Z06. And as far as the controller being configured. When I plug it in. And go into V8 scan and tune. I go over and select f6. I get a check under the USB. And x under the controller and next icon. I downloaded the v8 and v 7.5 from the latest web release. V8 version 8.2.2 build 237 the firmware I have is off the controller itself. As it won't communicate with a laptop. Firmware number 2.04.66 oct 3 2007, USB driver 2.08.40, USB library 3.02.07, also when my controller is connected to my laptop. My buttons don't work? Is this a possible hardware issue?
