It should... but don't rely on it.

You can test it by setting the PPM enabling parameters to values that are within the engine's normal operating range, set PPM commanded EQR to some known/recognizable value (different than PE, EPM, COTP), and run a short test... you should see the commanded EQR show up in the log...

when you're satisfied that it works with a MAF DTC present, remember set the PPM enabling parameters and the PPM commanded EQR to suitable values.

The PCM determines internally the combustion chamber temperature, and if it is sufficiently high it enables PPM... PPM increases the EQR to cool the CC's by means of liquid fuel's evaporative cooling properties and an excessively rich burn being cooler than a stoich burn or a PE burn... i.e. PM tries to prevent your pistons meiting if it can.
