Anyone have a bone stock 02 z06 bin? The only one I found is a differnt OS than I have so I couldn't compare. Long story short I had my car tweaked a year ago with ls1 edit, then I started tuning it with efi. I have a copy of the ls1 edit file but have no way to convert it to efi. I basically want to flash my car back to stock and start over. I have the efi workshop version if that matters.

Did you try the http://www.horist.com/hptuner repository? Even though it's an HPT file, you can read it with EFI Live (File>Open).

Which OS # are you looking for. The only Z06 files for 2002 I can find are all exactly the same.

2002 OS: 12221588
2001 OS: 12202088

LOL...hmmmm. Well, you can still get to it from LS1Tech's PCM forum.

The only file I have with that OS # is a single 2001 Corvette.

If you want to use the 02 Z06 I see that you have two options:

1) Perform a full flash of the 02 Z06 OS and Cal into your PCM. This requires that you have either the Commercial or Workshop version of EFILive.

2) Hand copy all of the Calibrations from the 02 Z06 into your stock OS file. Generally the tables are identical between most of the OS's so essentially you will be taking all the values and placing them in the 01 tables, where they match. I have done this many times, and it doesn't take as long as you might expect ;)

I have the workshop version. Is there a draw back to doing 1)? Also I have never done a full flash is there anything I need to watch out for? I also tuned a 99 vette and was told I should flash it to a newer OS, whats the advantage of doing that?

First of all I have a Holden Commodore so I have little experience with changing operating systems between model years. Just about every LS1 Holden uses the 12225074 OS, up till they changed to the 1MB PCM.

I have tried flashing in a Corvette or Camaro OS to my PCM and they just flat out don't work, the car won't start or anything. So I suspect that flashing the 02 Z06 will either simple work, or now.

I am also a computer guy so I used to obsess (yes, that is the right word :)) that I wasn't running the latest OS. Finally I got me head around the fact that these OS's are not like the difference between Windows 2000 and Windows XP.

From what I have seen of the various OS (and I have looked at a lot of them from setting up the tune repository) is that in general they are all very similar. What you tend to see is that all the 01 & 02 OS's appear to have exactly the same calibrations/tables as one another, just with perhaps different values. The 03+ PCM's typically tend to be 1MB PCM's and are slightly different. They have more tables, and some of the tables that are 1 column in the 01 & 02 OS's are multi column (often for flex fuels). These are obviously not usable on a 512k PCM as it simply won't fit.

So anyway... If you really liked the 02 Z06 file I'd full flash that in there and see if it works. If not spend some time with the mouse and copy each of the tables from the 02 Z06 across to the same tables in your stock OS, or better yet a Custom OS if you are running Speed Density.

Hope that helps, and makes sense :)
