Does this last update in software and filmware allow us to adjust shift points on the A50 TCM?
I saw there were updates for the A50 but still not sure if will help me with my 2009 LMM

Thanks for any info, Rick Abare

The release notes do describe what functions have been added or changed.

Mapping moves into beta for several OSs when the current release goes public.

Not yet, beta testers will be given access to the tuning parameters shortly.

how will the a50 be tuned?

can the stock file be read? then mod- then flash?

Yes, and the good news is EFILive has full control over the A50 read/write process (unlike the A40 where we had to use Allison's built in routines), that means we can do a full read in about 3 minutes, not 1 hour!

Are any maps going to be released or they need to beta first?

Will read/write be available? This is exciting.

Read and write is available in each of the June pre-release downloads. The most recent pre-release is here https://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?24263-Update-Jun-16-2014

A full write up of the Allison features from these releases can be found in our newsletter here http://www.efilive.com/latest/cat/newsletter/post/al5-a40-a50-allison5-6-speed-transmission-support

Customers are requested to submit their A50 read files to ensure their OS is mapped for our first parameter release.

Where would you like the read files submitted? I have a 15878459 OS file that I wouldn't hate to be able to make changes to. Our only alternative right now is swapping in a A40 to make it perform the way it should.

Do you want A46 files also? What is the difference between A46 and A50 for application purposes? It seems the A46 was very shortlived production run.

A46? I have no idea if reading/flashing will even work with that TCM, it is not something we've testing in house anyway.

From what I have gathered, the A46 was the replacement for the A40. When the A50 came out, they went to the A46 for the A40 if you need a replacement.

Has anyone flashed one as an A40? It might work fine if there was no hardware changes.

I obtained a A50 yesterday from an LML that said not recognized, are you still wanting OS's submitted to add or not?

A50 is presently in development. A few OS's have been mapped (but haven't made it into beta), others cannot be mapped due to changes made within the ECM/OS structure.

Cindy there was a mid-year change to the LML TCM. The 2015.5+ trucks with the RPO code "AVF" have a digital/DC output speed sensor instead of the normal AC variable reluctance type sensor that has been used forever. The 2015.5+ w/ AVF TCM's have different wiring too (IE, if you compare the pinouts side by side of 2015 and older and 2015+ w/ "AVF") there are differences.

I might even guess that MAYBE the hardware might be updated/different too...because looking at the pinouts, some things dont even come close to matching up (IE, on the 2015.5+ trucks, a certain pin is "ignition hot +12v feed", and the other 2015 and older w/o AVF TCM, its a pin for something significantly different such as a speed sensor, or a low-side driver for one of the solenoids.

I think Ben works at Allison, he's just not letting it be officially known ;)

Haha I wish...then I would know how to map DTC's on the Allison TCM's!

You don't need to work for Allison for that one... Mapping DTC is pretty easy, just time consuming!!! Lol
