View Full Version : Stock Tune?

What is the process for obtaining a stock tune for the Cruze since it cannot be read out? I have done a little searching but haven't come up with anything.

Same deal as the LML, but as we don't do anything but support the flashing of them the stock tunes have not been spread out in to the wild.

I really don't see the point in EFILIVE tuning these when you can't find a file to start with.
Somehow Duramaxtuner and Fleece got their hands on one and sell the Autocal with tunes preloaded.
Guess us common folk just don't deserve a file.

They invested $10K in an Alientech setup that allows them to JTAG the base file out (eg, pull ECM apart, solder wires on the board to then read it), they needed a delivery method for the tunes which is what we provided via the Autocal.
It is not about 'common folk' not deserving the files, unfortunately Bosch and GM are just making things very difficult for everyone. We don't get a lot of requests for the LUZ so we have not pursued mapping them ourselves.
Unfortunately for the USA market the Cruze has a unique ECM, every other Diesel Cruze sold worldwide uses the E20 which is 100% supported and has none of the tuning protection GM put in the USA models.

EFILive doesn't tune this ECM. The only service that is offered is flashing. There is no tuning or parameter mapping available, and no reading given the ECM security.

Given the lack of volume of the E47 (less than 6,000 sold each year) EFILive has not pursued further development,

Fleece and Duramax tuner are using tools available to the general public, the catch is they come with a 5 figure price tag and require a significant investment of time.

Cheers
Cindy

Wow there is an echo in here.

It took sarcasm to get an answer from anyone then it comes in a chorus, LOL.

Coincidence we both checked the thread this morning, we are in different offices, I actually had a laugh myself after I posted and it said there was another post just put up.

Is there a possibility of swapping the other ecu into a us spec car?

GMPX
April 20th, 2015, 09:07 AM
Unfortunately no, the engine hardware is also very different. The LUZ is a totally different engine to the 'Family Z' LNP 2.0L and LNQ 2.2L (plus these have no Urea, just DPF).

Main difference is the US-spec LUZ has piezo injectors, and the non-US engines have the older solenoid injectors... obviously a completely different ECM is utilized depending on which type of injectors it has to drive.

The non US engine uses Delphi components, Delphi seem to be pushing the solenoid approach with their systems.

Which is a shame for GM, I don't know the pricing in the US of the VW Golf vs the Cruze Diesel, but out here a loaded up Cruze Diesel is about $7,000 cheaper than a VW Golf so GM have a big advantage there. Only thing is they dropped the Diesel option on the 2015 Cruze here :nixweiss:. Probably in preparation of the plant shutting down soon.

Well here's my prototype .cax, mostly generated by a script I made. It's nowhere near on the level of the Reverse Engineering Gods.

That version actually has a slight 'oops' I noticed. Shouldn't harm it any else I would have noticed it sooner.

I just quick updated it, should be the same link.

I do. I haven't really verified if it is truly untainted. The vehicle was tuned beforehand by a company's mass produced tune. So what this would be is what they claim to be the stock tune. For the longest time I thought they changed the part numbers (if that's what they are called) and I was kinda angry. But as it turns out, it is the calibration from a 2014 Cruze and not the 2015. They are slightly different, but they still run on the same OS, and obviously this vehicle (mine) has been running fine with the 2014.

Also the VIN has been changed for privacy reasons. ASCII equivalent of 17 'F's

Awesome thanks! Great work BTW. I dont have a Cruze or access to one, but I still like poking around in these things

BTW, B0306 "unknown temp limiter"....Ill bet my lunch money thats fuel temp factor. :D

Apparently the forum didn't like me for silly reasons. Probably because I was silly. Try this again!

There are a bunch of other reduction maps which are all just flat 1.0, so I'll take your lunch money.

This has really been the product of an off project for the past oh... Been a few weeks. I have been slowly adding to it, and now whenever I browse through .bin file its raw glory I can say "Hmm, I know what some of these do." Most of its untested, and probably will remain that way until I volunteer my own vehicle for testing (rest in peace). I have seen maybe one other Cruze with the green badge, so it's not really worth me keeping my work hush hush. It's definitely not easy work. I haven't a clue on how EFI Live really maps it's stuff. I have come to the conclusion of magic (or disassembling the code, which is still magic).

Must be the post count min stopping you attaching something?

When it comes to Bosch ECM's I struggle and I dislike doing them. Actually one of the reasons we never released support for this platform was the (sadly) low sales figures from GM and we can't really put in the software "unknown temp limiter". That isn't a stab by the way I know exactly that feeling but as a commercial product we can't do that.
One super annoying thing with the E47 is you can read about 95% of the tune out of it via OBD-II, but they purposely stop the last 5% which unfortunately contains some critical data......someone was just being mean!

I basically tried to make a pun of when the Cruze would roll into the shop for the first time. It had a link to a picture, but it was a bad pun so maybe it was doing me a favor. Hehe.

Anyway, it's rough. The little shown in the tuning tool is really just the tip of the iceberg. A lot of my maps just have arbitrary numbers because I simply do not know how or when they are used, and doubt I'll ever figure it out. Won't really bore you with that, I'm sure you know.

Reading protections don't help either. Definitely drives most away.
