Locked ECM

I have a buddy that bought a truck with a pretuned ecm in it. He does not like the tuning and the tuner has not returned any of his calls/email ect for an update so he is ready to move onto a new tuner. Can he flash over the current tuning or will that ruin the ecm?

Pretty sure if it is locked, your stuck. Either get teh other tuner to unlock it, or get another ECM.

Are you talking a true LLY, not the LBZ crossover LLY?

If you are talking a true LLY, then the ECM must be unlocked before it can be flashed.

Contact SoCal diesel if you need the ECM unlocked or a spare.

Thank you guys and gals for the info. It is a true LLY ECM. I will see if I can find a new one as they truck is daily driven.
