06 Cobalt SS p0601 Reduced engine power and dying when code sets.

Car comes in and we have no history information.

Read tunefile out with V8 and V7.5. No checksum error notifications.

Attempted to read the tunefile with HPT and the read fails with a checksum error message at around 40%.

Could this possibly be a similar scenario? I just always have a hard time believing a failure of the IC.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Second incident: 03-27-2019
Third incident: 05-23-2024

In all three of these incidents, I first read the P12 PCM, Compared to previous READS of the same PCM, then Reflashed OS and calibration and resolved the probem.

I have dealer access to Techline Connect. Should I force Techline Connect to perform FULL WRITE and see if it is back again in 5 years? This has me very curious. This car is driven every day by this young man back and forth to work and I see it go by the shop multiple times a week. It is just like a clock, five years go by and here it is again, same problem, same solution.
