I just fitted a 160 degree Thermostat (71 C) (stock is 90C) and adjusted the fans to suit - now they are coming on at 85 deg C (stock is 98 C) and going off at 79 C.

Took the car for a run in quite a bit of stop start traffic and today it was about 23 deg C and my Coolant Temp went to a max of 85 and spent most of the time at around 82.
The usual is in the low 90s and at every traffic light up to 98 C then maybe down to 95 C.

Its made the engine coolant more than 10 degrees C cooler.

This should help reduce the tendency to knock and allow more timing on the street and at the strip.

I use 86deg on and 82 deg off low speed and 92 on 88 off high speed.
MAkes a big difference on the dyno as well

Can you give a ballpark figure on the dyno??

My car wanted more timing on the dyno - but some pinging started creeping in. I think it might take another 1-2 degrees now. ??

Didnt make a difference to how much timing I could run but it was a lot easier to keep the eng temps down and the lower temps off the radiator helped with the airtemps as well

And now it removes heat from the ATF.
