View Full Version : Let's talk refresh rate: logging PIDS

As it's well documented 24 pids is the max you want to log. I've physically seen it slow down when you log over 24. What about logging less?

For instance what would the refresh rate(FPS) be on 24 pids vs only 4 pids? Trying to get the most resolution as possible and I'd like to know how quickly it will log.

Also I was told externally logging pids is faster than through the OBD port? Is there any truth to this?

Thanks
Kris

I can comment that the less PIDS you log the faster the refresh rate.

I saved this from a while back (4 or 5 years ago) ... I think it is still valid. It shows the different data logging types and the relative speeds. I believe that I found this somewhere in the EFILive documentation.

Any idea how much or is that graph posted correct.

I saw that too, just wasn't sure if it was the truth. Reason I want to know is we have a car that we're doing some suspenion tuning on and how fast the refresh rate is (rpm, vss, map I assume) will help know how accurate the data is. The suspension guy wants to know.
