I fried my V2 today while trying to start the wife's truck with it plugged in attempting a pass through log. The battery cables were loose and the truck clicked. Now the V2 is not recognized by the computer and the display does nothing when hooked into USB. I do not use a power inverter but have a cigarette lighter DC/DC adapter for the laptop. I have used this setup for a couple years but I'm scared maybe this was the culprit, but I'm not sure.

It will however work when plugged into the OBD II port, no pass through communications though.

This is a bad day.

I'm looking at a 06 Duramax tomorrow that I am taking in trade of some work. I was really hoping to use EfiLive to see what I'm getting myself into.

Has anyone been able to successively repair a V2 after a failure like mine? I have 4 personal trucks incensed to this V2 and few buddies also. This could get very expensive. I'm really bummed at the moment.

... have a cigarette lighter DC/DC adapter for the laptop.
...You have multiple "ground" paths to the laptop, and each ground has a different voltage wrt vehicle ground and/or laptop.

I figured this out the hard way. I'll be buying a new battery for the laptop.
