I have efi live 7.5 with the latest software updates. I have mostly scanned and tuned Gen IV engines and 6l80s.

I am trying to scan a 1997 Suburban 2500 with the gas v8. My setup doesn't seem to include the right pcm controller in the drop down list of options.

Do I need to license another group of GM controllers to get older engine computers?

Thank you

Try selecting LS1B.

Scanning does not require licenses.

Thank you. Do you know if the scanner can show the camshaft retard offset reading?

A 97 burb would be a Vortec engine. It also may not be compatible with efilive. If it is, its probably an L31. If its not, its similar to the half ass OBD1/2 ecm that they used for later LT1s.

I realize this post is already a couple weeks old, but only the 98+ L31 Vortec blackboxes are supported, this 97 is not. HPTuners or Tunercats would be required here.

Thank you for the replies. I could not get it to scan this engine and it sounds like it won't work. The tech 1 I borrowed won't scan it either.

Its probably a pre L31. Are there 5 plugs on the ECM or 4?

Ah, 1997... if controller selected to LS1B does not work, then EFILive can't scan it.
