I am trying to help someone with a tune and they had it in a CTZ file. I was unable to open it, and saw the new update. I reluctantly decided to update v7.5, v8, and my flashscan. Now I have a V2 paperweight, and cant open any CTZ file. Every time I try a CTZ file, I get a box that pops up saying "EFILive V8 Scan and Tune Application has stopped working. A problem caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify if a solution is available." Can I downgrade? If it makes any difference, I am using Windows 7 home premium.

Have you tried re-installing the software?

Actually I just Uninstaller everything and reinstalled. The same thing happened. I forced it to open with v7.5 and it now opens. I don't think I should have to open this way, but I can now access the file.

Firmware cannot be downgraded. The public release software is yet to report an issue. I can confirm that I have been able to open a range of .ctz files from a range of different creation dates.

Is the error you are getting popping up as you launch the software (and if so, how did you update your firmware?) or is it popping up when you open the .ctz file? How are you opening the .ctz file? (from an email, from the file location on your PC, or using the Open function in the V8 software)

You should double check that you have given your PC permission to open EFILive software (Windows permissions can do strange things). If that doesn't resolve you issue, and you are opening the file from within the V8 software I'd suggest your download was not complete and you should uninstall V8 software, then download V8 again and install.

The uninstall option can be found by navigating through the start menu to Program Files->EFILive->V8 then select the Uninstall option.

Cheers
Cindy

I save all my files in a folder on my PC marked bins. If I click on the CTZ file, I get the error. If I right click and use the open with function to access the file with 7.5 I don't get the message. If I open v8 scan and tune I get the error message. It appears the issue is with V8. How do I change permissions?
Thanks for your help.

The specific process will change depending on what version of windows you have. Click on the start button, type UAC into the search box and review your settings. You will need to ensure you understand what you are changing if you make changes. Windows usually offers a help box on UAC.

**EDIT** If you right click on the V8 Scan and Tune icon, you should also be able to select run as administrator.

If permissions don't fix it, go ahead and uninstall then re-download and install.

Cheers

I have been running it and it has worked fine for all Duramax tunes from 2001-2015

I did the UAC search and adjusted the settings and still had the issue. I was also able to select run as administrator by right clicking the icon. I Uninstaller V8 and installed it again. I still get the error and the program locks up if I open it or select run as administrator. I might look into this more tomorrow. Thanks all for your help. I will update this if I get the matter resolved.

Do you have all the Administrator rights...?

Which Windows did you say...?

Post screenshots.

I am on windows 7 home premium 64x.

I can try and setup an administrator account and see if that works after work today.

Try what Cindy said, uninstall and reinstall as Administrator.
