View Full Version : Saving dashboard hassles

One thing that peeves me with EFI Live, is the way the saving dash pages and PID list works.
Its confusing, and ive asked many people how they do it, and they all say the same, and that is when prompted to say, save changes to default metric, just ignore it, and say no...... so this begs the question, why have it there in the first place????
When using the scan tool, I make my own PID lists in F8 and own dashpages in F10, and I save them and then name them, say LS1B Pids and E38 pids etc.
If I were to modify these lists, I could understand "changes have been made to LS1pids or dash, do you wish to save??" but save default metric is stupid, and if you get it wrong, it overwrites and you have no more default metric, which is the bit that gets me going.....
This causes pids to get lost, such as DYNCYLAIR, which has happened a few times to me, and become unsupported with red cross through them
I hate this, especially in the middle of a tune, and then you cant track spark...........
The only way i have found to fix this is, to download latest version, and setup again, which is great when on the dyno.... not
Am i missing something, or is this the norm with all you other users too???

I'm not sure what you're saying...

you could edit your dashboard and save the changes ahead of time.

It asks you to save changes to Default Metric.vdb because Default Metric.vdb is the current dashboard you have open...

try this (for example):
- open Default Metric.vbd, and immediately save it as LS1-dyno-session.vdb;
- on each gauge/chart, edit the gauge/chart properties, and save the properties;
- add new gauges/charts, save the dashpage and/or dashboard;
- in scantool properties, set this dashboard as the startup default.

Thanks Joe, The real problem Im having is my DYNCYLAIR_DMA becomes unsupprted with a red cross through it
I fixed it (temporarily) since I posted above, by updating with the latest software, but that only lasted a week, and today on a retune I did this morning , it worked again, even though when I first open the scanner it was crossed out. Some how it came good, and then I tuned another LS1 and it became unsupported again..... very frustrating.....
If I open Default Metric, the DYNCYLAIR_DMA Pid is down the bottom in the unsupported list..... but even if I save it as say LS1 dyno session. If I then close the scanner or change to another pid list it asks me save Default metric..... why should it do this???.... I have already saved it, and then if you were to, (supposing you had made changes to it) it would then change your original Default Metric Pid list..... wouldnt this be better if it were a Global List that cant be changed, but can be altered so long as you save it as something else......
OK, so that part peeves me off, but not as much as losing my spark tracking pid
Any ideas what could be wrong.... my laptop, or V2 dongle maybe.... Im sure Im doing things right, or Ive been doing it wrong forever.....

DYNCYLAIR_DMA is not supported on all OS's.

The pid GM.DYNAIRTMP_DMA is defined only for these LS1 OS's:
12202088 92111922 12208322 12225074 12212156 12221588 12216125 12577216 12579405 12580055 12585318 12593058 12509967 12587604
12588804 12592433 12585950 12587603 12592425 12606960 12592618 12593555 12606961 12612115 12587811 12606807 12608669 12597120

The pid file contains the pids you've selected, not all the pids... if it asks you to save default Metric, then for some reason you previous save did not go thru (what Windows OS are you running)...?

Post some screenshots.
