Something is going on with my Flashscan where it randomly blacks out the screen. The best I can tell it's just the LCD backlight because you can almost see the characters at certain angles and the LED's don't change. Also if I touch the surface in the right place or tweak the Flashscan in my hand it will illuminate, but pressing a button often makes it go black again. When it recovers it's still on the same screen so I think it's just a faulty connection somewhere.
I have had it for years so it's not under warranty, but I'm wondering if this is an easy fix assuming I open it up.
Is there a ribbon cable with the backlight power supply line going to the LCD?
Can the Flashscan operate with reduced power, just not illuminate the LCD?
I also have a broken locking tab on my RJ45 connector so I wonder if it's not always getting a solid 12v connection.
Suggestions, help would be appreciated.
I'm electronically capable, but I REALLY don't want to screw it up just poking around at stuff.
Thanks,
