I hooked up my laptop to the truck with a charger to the power port to keep the batter up on the laptop so I could do a log run.
I then hooked up the scan tool. The interface cable between laptop and scan tool got very hot, now when I hook up scan tool to laptop it doesn't see the interface cable. I am sure it is fried.

Do you have FlashScan V2 or V1...?

I have the V2, I bought a new cable and nothing still works, I think I fried something inside. Not totally positive. I sent an PM to the person I bought this through to see where I can have it looked at since I live in Canada.

That failure mode is usually the USB protection chip on the FlashScan circuit board which stops the power from feeding back into the USB connection and destroying your PC/laptop's USB port. It can be replaced by our US distributor, SoCal diesel in CA. Their contact details are here: http://www.efilive.com/distributors
