Got around to driving the truck a little between yesterday and today and have been noticing some surging at idle. It appears to be spark related after looking at the most recent log. I also have noticed some surging when accelerating while holding a steady throttle position. It is not a lot but enough that i notice it and it bugs the hell out of me. Attached is the most current log and tune file. Thanks in advance for your help

Your LTFT's are pegging positive...

this is a symptom of airleaks...

check for airleaks at the intake manifold, at the exhaust header/manifold, near the NBO2 sensors (especially with headers), and check PCV plumbing.

You nailed it Joecar. Found 2 exhaust leaks just past the driver side O2 sensor. Going back to the exhaust shop tomorrow or thursday and will log the ride home. At one point i advanced the timing on the HO table by 2 degrees and i was getting knock retard (3.4). Could the exhaust leak be effecting that as well?

So i ended up having a p0155 code thrown on the brand new o2 sensor. Replaced that sensor and cleared all DTC and LTFT. when idling i sprayed carb cleaner by all of the vacuum ports and all around the intake and never had a change in idle characteristics. Took the truck for a drive and i now have Po174 and Po171 for codes and it starts bucking under acceleration until the RPM comes up to a certain point and then the truck takes off. My LTFT are still high and I am at a loss. here is the latest log. Could it be a MAF issue? Going to go check all the vacuum spots and intake for leaks again but not

Try to diagnose P0171 and P0174 first... then try increasing the MAF table by 10% for Closed Loop range, and take a new log

you might want to remove some unneeded pids... for example log these pids, see post #9 here (https://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?25895-05-Silverado-5-3-Ol-CL-afrs-dont-make-sense&p=222464&viewfull=1#post222464)

Found a small intake leak at the back where the power brake s are hooked up. need to get that fixed then i will do that. Leak was so small that spraying carb cleaner would not make an audible difference in idle speed or characteristics.

It looks like you've made no attempt to tune your MAF or VE tables.... which is probably just as well because your IFR values are ridiculously high. From the information I have, your injectors flow 22.1lbs @3bar. You might also want to do something with your Small Pulse Adjust table... I've never seen anything quite like it.

Your IAT temps seem kinda high as well... you might want to investigate why they are so high.

After the holiday weekend I am pretty sure I am getting a lot closer with a little help. Going to put in some fresh spark plugs this afternoon before i start trying to adjust from the most recent setup. Still stumbling off idle and wants to stumble under a load as well as pop and crack out of the exhaust.

Take those out of your que. Will update the tune I've been running since yesterday with the most recent log. Then it's time to tune the transmission

18822I'm looking thru your log, I can't find where in your tune commanded AFR 16.00 is coming from...

instead of logging GM.AFR, can you log GM.EQIVRATIO...

so with your current pid selection do this:
- remove these pids: GM.AFR, SAE.VSS, GM.IBPW1, GM.IBPW2 (and CALC.INJDC1, CALC.INJDC2).
- add these pids: GM.EQIVRATIO, GM.DYNAIR, GM.DYNCYLAIR.
- save this pid selection to file (click Save Pids button).
- take a log, and post it.

Your log shows something wrong with AFR, I can't see how tune is doing that.

Would have gotten to this sooner but last friday i rolled the truck i did the swap in. Fortunately i was unscathed and a buddy had a roller that was begging for an engine and trans . Less than 12 hours after totaling my truck i had another in the driveway and today she was driving around town. Joecar, here are a few logs with the PIDs you requested. I think the new truck had some bad gas that was causing the knock retard on the first 2 logs.

18838Ok, thanks for logs (same engine/trans, different vehicle...?).

Good thing you're ok... how did it happen...?

creekrat

same engine, trans and rear gear ratio but in a different truck. Hydroplaned and wasn't able to save it. went upside down and slammed into a telephone pole and i walked away

When your engine is off (zero RPM), your MAP read 69 kPa... what elevation are you at...?

creekrat
September 16th, 2015, 01:02 AM
Like sea level....lol

joecar
September 16th, 2015, 03:22 AM
Something wrong with your MAP sensor... KOEO (key on, engine off) it should read about 100 kPa.

I'm back at work for 3 weeks but will try a different one when i get home

Well after getting F#$%ing staph, here is the log you wanted Joecar. My MAP offset was at 10 so i changed it to 9 which made it read 99 kpa. Once i get this dialed in then it's time to start messing with the transmission

Are you ok, it can be serious, are you on antibiotic, how/where did you get it...?

yea, I'm good. Got it on an offshore oil rig at work. On antibiotics and on the downhill side of it. Should be released from the dr on monday

Well after a few setbacks I ended up having to change my fuel pump so yesterday i took a few rides to check the MAF calibration and adjust a little on it since the new pump is keeping up where the other wouldn't. That being said, Joecar, you mentioned before about me having a spot in one of my logs where my AFR went to 16.0:1 and had me log a different set of PIDs since you didn't see where that request should have shown up within the tune. Wife forgot her work keys at home and she is about 45 minutes from home today so i had a good excuse to log and did so on the way there and back. On the way there i was using an EFI live defined set of PIDs and i noticed while at cruising speeds a couple times the AFR was going to 16.0:1. So on the way back i logged the set of PIDs that you had mentioned to me and included are both logs and the tune. I had also had an issue with MAP sensor readings before, was showing 69 kpa koeo, and adjusted the offset from 10 to 9 and that put me at reading 100 kpa koeo. Thinking i'm getting pretty close to where i should be.
