I bought a v2 tuner off ls1tech. It supposedly had 2 credits left but im not sure if my car used them. I was able to read the calibration but thats it. I try to scan or log my car and it comes up required config file(s) not found. I really need to look at the controller is the car and need to connect asap. Any input is greatly appreciated.

Ok, first download and install V7 and V8 software from here: Aug-27-2015-EFILive-Public-Pre-Release (https://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?25899-Aug-27-2015-EFILive-Public-Pre-Release)

Then I need to know the version of firmware in your B2... start V8 Scan And Tune (S&T) and click Check Firmware... post what it says (or a screenshot) here.

I need to know the Firmware version before doing the next step.

Do i need V7 if i have V8? Installed both of them anyways. I checked firmware and the version is 2.07.90 and the boot block is 2.07.07

You need V7 for the tunetool and the scantool.

Ok, now do this: post #1 of this thread: Setting up a V2 from scratch (https://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?20699-Setting-up-a-FSV2-from-scratch).

After you've done that, connect PC to V2 to OBD-2 port in vehicle, start V7 scantool, click green connect button (upper left), do Info->Validate Pids, goto PIDs tab, uncheckmark Supported, select some pids (by double clicking on them), click the red record button (bottom center), goto Dash tab, click B, you should see the chart graph moving.

When done logging, click the blue square stop button and specify a filename.

Okay thanks for all the help it works fine now. I have another question though. I had my car tuned by a tuner if i connect and adjust certain things will i loose the rest of the tune? I don't want to mess up what the tuner has already done.

After you make your edits, click File->Save As and notice that the filename has _0000 appended to it...

each time you do File->Save As it will increment the appendage;

e.g. if filename of tune you saved after reading the tune out from PCM is wxyz.ctz

when you edit it and go File->Save As the filename becomes wxyz_0000.ctz

if you then edit again and do File->Save As the filename now becomes wxyz_0001.ctz

and so on.
