I think the ECM we are working with is bricked but wanted to get some insight before we replace it. The attached picture 18826 shows the following:

Left - Tune that was read off of the ECM (was tuned by someone with unknown software)
Center - Tune file that we flashed on, VIN number matched, OS was different from read but VIN was matched.
Right - Corrupt VIN?, NA Serial, corrupt BCC?

We initially flashed the truck 6/28/2015 (V8 and 7.5 were up to date but not sure what versions), made a revision and flashed it a second time, no issues, files set to Auto-lock. Customer gets a built trans and wants some changes and we attempted to reflash (early September 2015, updated pre-release V8.2.2.285, V7.5.7 build 292, firmware up to date) and got $0537 on the first attempt... Remove radio and abs fuses, same issue. Attempted alt keys etc., no go. At this point we took the screen shot on the right. Customer mentioned that a Tech II was attached but only to check balance rates.

Is there a chance to recover this ECM? Possible causes? Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks.

SN# Corrupt, Hardware # Corrupt, BCC segment Corrupt.

Locked up, its probably JUNK.

Any thoughts on why though? is it just a random thing? Likely because it was tuned by another programmer previously? Possibly from Auto-locking it with EFILive?

With LB7's, you can randomnly lose the serial number in the ECM, it just happens. Does the truck have an aftermarket radio in it? If so you must remove the radio and the interface adapter in my experience, otherwise just pulling the fuses leaves you open to problems during flashing.

Stock radio, radio and lift pump fuse were pulled. Thanks for the note on the interface adapter. I've read a few times now about ABS getting in the way too? Would it be wise to pull the ABS fuse in the future?

Will EFI-Live credit the vin license?

Thanks

There are a few reasons you can lock up your LB7 ECM.
1.Started with a Corrupt File most likely from a previous programmer.
2.Flashed with the ignition off.
3.Turned Ignition off during flashing or batteries Died since most of us forget to turn off our headlights while flashing.

Best thing to do if you are not sure what was in the LB7 ECM is to start with a Fresh Clean TIS File.
