EFILive Flashscan V1 Commercial Upgrade License. Now Scan Only.

I sent in my V1 serial number to request an upgrade from Personal Scan&Tune to Commercial Scan&Tune and received an email with the following information/instructions. I was not successful with the upgrade and after several email exchanges I started to believe there might be something missing, probably the Activation Code. If someone has completed this upgrade recently would you mind letting me know if the document is complete or not and I'll let Donna know.

Make sure you enter the registration details exactly as they appear in this

Take particular care to enter the date correctly. The date is shown above
in the form YYYYMMDD. For example, 20151011 means Oct 11, 2015.

Once entered into EFILive V7, the license details are stored in the file:
\My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\User Configuration\License.txt.

Follow these instructions to upgrade your interface cable to "Commercial Scan
And Tune".

1. Connect the FlashScan V1 cable to yo! ur PC, but not to any vehicle.
2. Start the EFILive Tuning Tool software.
3. Select the menu option: "Help->FlashScan V1 PCM Licensing..."
4. Select the [Upgrade Cable] tab page.
5. Enter your Personal Upgrade Code in the "to Personal:" text box.
6. Click on the [Upgrade] button nearest the "to Personal:" text box.
7. Enter your Commercial Upgrade Code in the "to Commercial:" text box.
8. Click on the [Upgrade] button nearest the "to Commercial:" text box.
9. Close the "FlashScan License" window.
10. Close and restart the EFILive Tuning Tool software.

Verify that the following Commercial features are now available.

1. Select the menu option: "Help->FlashScan V1 PCM Licensing..."
2. Verify that the "FlashScan License:" is set to "Commercial Scan&Tune".
3. Close the window.
4. Open the 2002_CorvetteZ06_LS1.tun file using the menu: File->Open tuning
file...
5. Make sure you can view the Electronic Throttle Control tables her! e: Engine
Calibration->Electronic Throttle.
6. Click the full-flash icon in the toolbar. It is just to the right of the
normal flash toolbar icon. You should see a full reflash window appear.
Click OK and close the full flash window.
7. With FlashScan connected to your PCM and the vehicle's ignition turned on,
open the PCM Locking window. Make sure that the [Lock] button is now enabled. Do
not click the [Lock] button unless you really do wish to lock your PCM.

Ok, I notified EFILive of the missing activation code.

The upgrade codes in the email are correct for your device:

Personal Upgrade Code: 00D4929D
Commercial upgrade Code: 0B3A54D4
Make sure you use the digit zero, not the letter "O" for the leading zeros (although leading zeros can actually be omitted).

Please see the two images below that show what you should expect to see before upgrading to Commercial and after upgrading to Commercial.

I cannot enter the Personal Upgrade Code: "00D4929D" the box is not activated. The top image "Before" in your post is identical to what I'm seeing. The text "Commercial" very dark and "Personal' is greyed out and will not accept text entry. I have no problems with entering the Commercial upgrade Code: "0B3A54D4". The question is about the "EFILive V1 Commercial upgrade Activation Code". This line, in my previous post, of your email lacks an Activation Code "Your EFILive V1 Commercial upgrade Activation Code is:________________". Please provide if needed. if not, please indicate that it's not required.

The Personal activation code is only for upgrading from "Scan and Tune" to "Personal". If your device is already at "Personal" (as it appears yours is), then you only need to enter the Commercial upgrade code (i.e. 0B3A54D4) to upgrade from "Personal" to "Commercial". Once you do that then both the Personal and Commercial upgrade options will become greyed out indicating that the device has been successfully upgraded to Commercial.

Well I guess I don't understand what the problem is. From everything I've read that you've posted, I believe (and I could be wrong) that you are trying to upgrade your V1 Personal to Commercial. To do that, simply enter your Commercial upgrade code (which is 0B3A54D4), into the field labeled "to Commercial" then click the [Upgrade] button to the right of that field. That's all you need to do.

If there's something else that doesn't work or doesn't make sense or if I've misunderstood the problem, please try to explain the exact problem to me again. Include as much information about what you are trying to achieve and what you have tried that has failed.

That makes it much clearer and yes I'm attempting to upgrade from Personal Scan&Tune to Commercial.


1. I verified that the registration details in the "\My Documents\EFILive\V7.5\User Configuration\License.txt" are correct after replacing the Personal Registration Details with the following:

2. The V1 cable is connected to the PC with no vehicle attached.


3. Using the Commercial Upgrade Code 0B3A54D4 (using Caps and a 0 not an o) and clicking on the Upgrade Button I'm getting the following reply: FlashScan was not Upgraded. Please check the Upgrade Code that you entered, is correct.

Not sure what you mean by "using Caps". That makes me think you are using an uppercase letter "Oh". The first character of the code is the digit zero, not a letter. The codes always consist of only the digits 0 to 9 and the letters A to F.

Lastly can you confirm that the serial number of your device really is 003480749632

I have checked it before, but did it again.

I should not have mentioned that since the "to Commercial" field is probably not case sensitive. Lower case entries A to F show as a to f.

The Serial Number I originally emailed was copied from the blue License registration card 003480749632. I checked it against what EFILive shows. There the same.

At this stage I don't know why it won't upgrade to Commercial Scan and Tune. If you can send it back to EFILive I will upgrade it manually here. If I can't upgrade it, I'll replace it with a new one (free of charge).
Let me know if you want to ship it back to Auckland NZ, if so I'll send you the shipping details.

One additional question. The firmware version is 244.2.17 dated 18Jan2005, could that be a problem with the upgrade?

The final firmware programmed into V1's before we stopped manufacturing them was 1.2.17 on Jan 18, 2005. So what you have is the latest firmware version.
