I notice that the E38 controlled cooling fans seem to run a lot longer than necessary. I'm guessing that GM built a lot of hysteresis into the system. But it results in excess drag on the engine/alternator. Having grown up with the LS1b / 411, it sure would be nice to have turn on and turn off temperature control.
