I am following the Auto VE tutorial but have come to a wall as the pids selection is based on using a Analogue wideband. I have a AEM that supports serial and am after the pids i require to use the AutoVE tuning method (mafless) via serial WB rather then analogue.

Thanks Julian.

Hi Julian,

For the BEN pid use the pid CALC.WO2BEN from the Calc.VET thread, see post #1: Calc-VET (https://forum.efilive.com/showthread.php?15236-Calc-VET-correcting-MAF-and-calculating-VE-(in-single-log))

i.e. copy this file: calc_pids.txt (https://forum.efilive.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=14575&d=1360953394) to this folder: Documents\EFILive\V7.5\User Configuration

when you next open the scantool, you will see the pid CALC.WO2BEN, it uses GM.EQIVRATIO and EXT.WO2LAM1.

Joe,

Having a strange problem while trying to do the AutoVE tune, I can drive around fine but when i go to do some higher rpm stuff the car goes into limp mode. I have attached a log and a copy of the DTC's that came up. The oil pressure one is always there.

Thanks Julian.

P0068 indicates that MAP has exceeded sanity envelope...

need to adjust the MAP sanity tables in the Engine Diagnostics segment of the tune.

The B3605 table is copied directly from the autove tutorial, I will have a look at the sanity tables to I increase or decrease these tables and what numbers am I looking for?

Or, you can just set B3618 PE to EQR 1.170 and do AutoVE like that.

With the MAF/MAP error is that corrected in the C2911 and do i max this out? I dont underestand why the maf is affecting my autove when it is disconected? With the B3605 do i jujst put that back to factory if i am setting the B3618 to EQR1.170?

Thanks joe, will gives this a go tomorrow and hopefully it's all sorted and can be on my way to a nice VE table.

Joe, this fixed the problem initially once i turned the test of via C5501 after doing some mid range rpm logging i proceded to go higher in the rpm range and the car went into limp mode again, and the P0068 came back? I keep getting a knock sensor low voltage DTC P0327 could this be a crook sensor and making the car go into limp mode. have attached a updated Tune using your PE numbers of 1.17 and keeping B3605 factory.

Thanks Again.

Joe,

Can you please tell me when I return the PCM to CL SD do I keep B3618 at 1.17 EQR or return it to factory settings along with the DFCO,LTFT's, and CAT Protection.

Car is no longer entering limp mode but have discovered there is a knock sensor issue so it always retards the 3 degrees, will have to replace them and I should pick up a significant amount of power across the board.

Thanks Julian.

Yes, leave B3618 at EQR 1.17 and verify you see this on the wideband.

Enable DFCO, CL/LTFT and COTP.

You may have to replace the KS with a GM ones, and also the subharness.

Joe,

Yep will use genuine ones from GM and check of the harness aswell. Just went for a quick drive couple mins I'm guessing it takes a while before the LTFT shows on the log. On that short drive average 1.003 BEN so very happy where that is at. At initial start up idle it's around AFR 15.6 I can't imagine this is an issue due to no load? WOT is at 12.5-12.6 all the way through the rev range with steady state cruising at 14.6-14.7.

Thanks again for all your help.

Check that you enabled CL and LTFT... as soon as ECT comes to B4205 you should get CL trimming.

You were right I changed the B4205 table but forgot to Enable B3801

in this tuning world its vice versa haha. LTFT's are 3.9 and average BEN is .98 so for my first shot im happy with that. I have attached a log for confirmation of my happiness. Thanks again mate.

I haven´t try AutoVe until now, I did follow the tutorial and unplug the MAF, but when I try to start the engine it won´t start. Until I plug the MAF again, I Re-check the file and looks like is suppose to be.
I must be missing something. Any advice?

With the maf is it a 3 wire or 5 wire?

3 wire, is a Camaro Gen III LSx

everything looks set up right in the tune, what has changed in the tutorial from what Joe has showed me is with B3605 leave this factory and change B3618 to 1.17. When you say the car wont start does it turnover and just not fire?

Do you get an immediate MAF DTC (i.e. either of: P0101, P0102, P0103)...?

DocZ28
January 13th, 2016, 10:14 AM
It does start but instantly shutdown, no martter if I give a little gas thru the pedal. But once I plug the MAF, It starts with no problem.

With MAF unplugged, do you get a DTC...?

DocZ28
January 14th, 2016, 03:33 AM
Yes I get P0101 and P0103, but I´m not sure if it was for the first attempts of starting the engine with the maf unplugged, because I scann the pcm once I plug the maf and start the engine.

What I note was that the engine did go to CL and LTFT are disable. I can go with the Log in this way or really the MAF has to be unplugged?

joecar

MAF has to be failed in order tpo tune VE...

sounds like something is wrong with your VE table... what mods do you have...?

Try this: copy B0101 VE table from a stock 2002 Camaro into your VE, and depending on mods increase it 5%-10%, and see if engine would now run.

Also, in C6001, set P0101,2,3 to A:1-Trip.

I got that Ve Table from Cal. Vet tunning.

My mods are:
6.0l Ironblock bored to 6.2l
243 ported cylinders heads 302 Int/ 290 exhaust
Custom camshafth 230/236 .612”/.607” 111LSA +4 advance
LT Headers, dual exhaust, torque converter TCI 3600 stall, 3.90 gears
Rigth now running the quarter mile at 11.45 seconds

joecar
January 14th, 2016, 12:24 PM
In some cases Calc.VET does not get the VE right (especially if IFR is not correct, but sometimes we don't really know why).

So try this: remove the MAF, set VE back to stock and increase it by about 12%, and see if it runs... if it does, then you can do AutoVE on it.

Is your engine making around 450 FWHP...?
What injectors do you have...?
Do you have any logs of the injector duty cycle (need to log GM.IBPW1, GM.IBPW2, CALC.INJDC1, CALC.INJDC2)...?

DocZ28
January 15th, 2016, 08:42 AM
For the elapsed times I figure it out that it must have more than 400 rwhp

I have the small 28.8 lbs injectors, here is a log of 11.6 seconds.
