D6274 Timing, boost multiplier

Just had a question about this table. I'd like to try and utilize it a bit more for smoke control but am not 100% on how it works. If Say I zero the table and then put 5's in the cruise area, will this add 5* of timing in those areas or multiply the main timing by 5 in those areas.
I've been playing around with my main and pilot tables to keep smoke down, get spool up and have been pretty successful but I am getting a mid-range compressor surge when accelerating at part throttle and was hoping that I could have some timing come in these areas to alleviate the surging. Ok, lets say you have 2.0 degrees in (D6261), the multiplier table values *shown in red will do this to that value (depending on the temperature points).

2.0 degrees x 1.0 = 2.0 as the final result
or
2.0 degrees x 0.75 = 1.5 as the final result
or
2.0 degrees x 0.3 = 0.6 as the final result

And of course a Multiplier of zero will result in zero adjustment.

Thanks for the help, it turns out I referenced the wrong table in the title of this post I actually am looking at D6273. I'm assuming it works the same way though. I do have another question for you though about D6270, will this table add/subtract from the main timing or does it multiply as well? Thanks again for your help!
