I'm working on a project (attempting to add a flex fuel sensor to my 2002 LS1 PCM), and was curious about the compatibility between PCM's and Operating Systems.

It seems as if the wiring pin out for the 2004 GTO PCM is the closest to the 411 pcm I have now, and works with a cable throttle body. Thus if i get a GTO pcm 12586243, can I program any 1mb operating system to this PCM?

The easiest way to accomplish my goal would be to use the L59 OS of 12579405 and put this on the GTO PCM. The flex fuel tables are in that OS and it has custom operating systems available in EFI live to work with my 3 bar map sensor. Will this work?

thank you for any and all advice you can give me on this project.

The LS1 PCM's didn't suffer any of the incompatibility issues the late model ECM's do, you can pretty much flash any OS over another in them on the same PCM type.
One thing to be careful of is not all 1Mb PCM's are the same, some are missing output drivers but I'm sorry I can't tell you which service numbers those ones are.

attached is efilive os 04110003 which supports flex fuel (turn it on) on the green/blue ls1 pcm.

Did this OS originally come from a flex fuel vehicle? From my research I have found that efilive doesn't copy all the tables necessary in the os, thus if the OS wasn't originally setup for flex fuel from GM the back ground tables needed to enable flex fuel won't be there. Which means you have to find an OS with the flex fuel capabilites from GM, and find one that has a custom operating system from efi live for this to work.

Have you ran this OS with a flex fuel sensor?

thanks for the help!
