Friend is putting a 2007 LY5 5.3 in his s10 and wants me to fix up his harness and tune. His e38 harness is cut in half and has no ecm so we are going to convert to 24x and run LS1B. He also wants to have DBC so I sold him a 2004 express van 1meg pcm AND a LM4 harness from a 2004 trailblazer.

My question is what base tune should I start with? ALso, I assume the AFM will just be inactive being not hooked up? Do I need to add the 2-wire knock sensors to the TB harness? Sort of a Frankenstein build but that's what makes it interesting I guess.

You'll need a LPE 58x to 24x conversion box or pull the crank and swap out the reluctors plus the cam reluctor.

Once you have that done, I'd start with a tune that's closest to the engine as far as CR, cam, and so forth. It'll take some tuning as that specific engine was never offered with a LS1B style PCM so there's no perfect base tune out there.

May need to use LS1 knock sensors in the ls2 location, cam sensor conversion harness, I thought all the 1 meg PCMs were fly by wire ?

There are some 1mg dbc that came in the express vans. Also some 03 and 04 truck PCMs have an IAC driver in them.

I am going to start with a l33 tune, set to EV6 injectors and run the flat response knocks that are already on the ly5. Looks like there is an option for knock sensors (flat response or resonant). I assume they will work by changing that setting.

I have not seen any posts on anyone getting ls2 style knock sensors to successfully work with ls1 pcm.
Stick with the sensors that are native to your PCM, just change there location to suit your engine.
