View Full Version : Why am I having trouble with Tune File Depot?

Most of the time when I try to get a stock tune it down loads correctly. But every now and again when I click on the file I get what looks like a screen full of machine language. If I right click on the desired file and "save to target" I get a file with a HTML extension. Then a few days later I try again and get a valid file. Am I using the wrong browser? Thoughts?

I don't know your answer but the same happens for me too. I learned to change to file extension.

It's been doing that for months now. As mentioned, right click and save target as and then change the html file extension to ctz and your good to go.

Yes, sometimes Windows selects the wrong filename extension.

If your using firebox or waterfox? Down load using IE.

I have had this issue as well, usually using IE. Use Mozilla firefox without any problems.

I use IE and Google Chrome with same result. Just letting it download then changing the extension seems to work best. Only trick is you have to enable your file manager to reveal the extension (do that under 'View").

The problem i saw was when i clicked on the link, nothing down loads, the browser page would just fills with garbage text, i switched browsers.

I use waterfox, switch to IE temporally

Sorry I was not clear. Left click gets machine language. Right click to get "Save Target", then direct to your desired folder.

It was a deliberate shut-down. They put this on the site before it closed....

Tune File Depot Closing 20th April 2016

After 11 years of providing this site (first as Holden Crazy and then as the current Tune File Depot) we will be going offline on the 20th of April 2016. We've arrived at this decision for a few reasons:

Historically we have been able to provide this site at very small incremental cost due to our operators other hosting business. Unfortunately this is no longer the case and we simply cannot continue to operate this site when we consider the actual hosting costs this site accumulates.

When we started out (with the LS1B PCM) it was very common for people to change operating systems in their controllers to gain additional capabilities. This is not the case with the newer gas ECMs. As such we seldom receive files to add to the library (we only received 4 new files throughout 2015).

The diesel calibrations are hosted elsewhere. Additionally the later model diesel controllers (2011+ GM and 2010+ Dodge Cummins) are protected and cannot be read through the vehicles OBDII diagnostic port. Because they are protected we have elected not to host these files.

Well that news just plain blows !!!!
I wonder how much it cost to host the site? Damn it was nice to have around!
